The Duncombe Arms is a beautiful, traditional country pub situated at the heart of the lovely rural village of Ellastone on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border. Located on the edge of the Peak District near the towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter it is a great place to visit providing a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food, as well as a chat with friends or family.

Come inside and enjoy a roaring log fire, sample our excellent range of beers and wines or enjoy fabulous food from our award-winning chef Scott Law. Or in the summer you can laze in our large garden overlooking the view to Worthy Island Wood.

    Absolutely fabulous lunch. Food was exceptional and the service excellent. We ate in the restaurant but all dining areas were equally appealing. We live fairly close to the Duncombe Arms and have often talked of going for a meal until we finally did it today. Why oh why did we leave it so long????

    Excellent food. Ambience spoilt by the next table having a loud Face time conversation. Not the fault of the establishment that some people are just rude and inconsiderate.

    Food excellent at lunch! If they ever stop that fish goujon sandwich I will be devastated! Great as usual apart from my half full half pint of estella...looked like someone had taken a slurp before it got to me. Lovely waitress but slightly grumpy waiters?

    We love it there - always great service and staff, especially James. Food always excellent and we feel lucky to live so close to such a lovely pub/restaurant!

    Warm welcome into a bustling dining ambiance. Just what was need after a two hour drive. Food good and service attentive. Dining area in conservatory was quite noisy. All together an execellant dining experience.

    First time at this ‘Gastropub’ Seated at table in main dining area but right on main thru route. Felt it had been shoehorned in and constant traffic past table Service was excellent, professional and crisp, better than most restaurants. Lovely ambience other than the table location. My main was disappointing. Burger brioche bun was not fresh and main burger patties despite being a high meat content was woefully under seasoned and tasted of bland minced beef. My partners main was also on the small side, it suited her but others may feel short changed. After dinner espresso was lukewarm. This establishment is at the top end pricing wise of local similar food options. Whilst service and ambience is very good, food has to lead and on this visit it was disappointing for us.

    All three courses were excellent,flavoursome and beautifully presented.What made this such a lovely experience was the staff superb friendly service very attentive.My Birthday plate with treats was a very nice ending to the meal.Have eaten a few times before but moved away during COVID.Well worth travelling back to visit for my special day worth the journey.

    Food and service excellent. Really liked that the waiter asked if the stairs would be okay for my mum to manage as she walks with a stick. He also helped her down them. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

    Great ambience and service. Food lovely but slightly Nouvelle Cuisine. Pretty expensive but it was special.
