The Cumberland Bar serves Scottish food, real ale, classic wine and spirits in Edinburgh’s New Town. It takes about 15 minutes to reach its location at 1-3 Cumberland Street on foot from Waverley Station. Edinburgh Castle is about a 10 minute drive away from its premises and Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre can be reached within a 10 minute walk. The restaurant uses fresh and organically sourced ingredients to prepare its food including several traditional Scottish recipes are served with a modern flair. Thoughtfully chosen sumptuous dishes find their way on to the specials menu. Sunday is celebrated with a classic roast menu which is updated every week. The pub is famous for serving real ale, local and imported beer and wine.

It couldn’t be faulted. The food was excellent and very well presented. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I will certainly be back.

Visited on a Sunday for the Sunday roast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was superb. Great value.

Perfect place for a wee Christmas gathering - very cosy, great atmosphere and food and service were fab. Good selection of beers too!

Lovely pub, no loud music or queuing for ages at the bar. It was busy without being overcrowded with a great atmosphere. We arrived an hour before our booking following a show, fully prepared to wait at the bar until our allotted time. We were seated earlier than expected. We had the Christmas dinner which was lovely, although the generous portions meant we couldn’t eat it all. There were 7 of us, we had 3 courses and didn’t feel at all rushed. The service was fantastic. We will definitely go back to The Cumberland Bar.

Lovely pub on a quiet street that you can park your car on that is still walking distance from princes street. Advisable to book a table in advance but there's always bar space to sit at for walk ins. Good range of drinks and the ambience makes it my favourite

Booked a table for 9 people on open table (restaurant booking website) but they were surprised when we arrived and wanted to order food! No table service for food or drinks. Food ok, definitely not Gastropub pub as described on the website.

Great food, beer, and ambience. Really good for people with Coeliac’s disease. At least two draft gluten-free beers from Bellfield and Campervan. Although, I would love to have the Extra Black back again.
