The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

Normally a very reliable choice for Sunday lunch but sadly not this time. Food not up to the usual high standard, ditto service (we were seated in the very busy bar area and completely forgotten about) and the least said about the selfish crowd of people next to us the better. Perhaps it’s time to explore other local options. Shame.

A lovely pub in a very pretty village, with friendly welcoming staff, excellent service food and beer- everything you could ask for, we loved it.

Lovely annual pre christmas dinner for 4 at the cat in the bar restaurant ... staff as ever were delightful we all had steak with truffle chips delicious, deserts fantastic and the pork belly starter was to die for! Washed down with a delightful pinotage.. we'll be back for sure

Lovely place with different little areas within the rooms to suit different group sizes. We had a group of 5 and the food was excellent. A good range to suit all tastes from pie or fish and chips to venison, smoked carrot or pork belly. All beautifully presented with amazing flavour. Service was excellent with lovely, friendly staff. A great experience especially as it was for my birthday

All the staff were wonderful and helpfully flexible when I got part of my order wrong. It had a very good atmosphere and was not too noisy. The food was OK, but it felt like they were trying a bit hard to be cheffy and in trying to make 'posh food', they fell short of the 'great meal' bullseye. Thought and creativity had gone into each dish but I couldn't call any of the dishes in each of the 3 courses really tasty . OK, yes, but that's it. I'm afraid the wine list was not very inspiring and although I only tried one wine by the glass, sadly it was a bit 'supermarkety' - not very exciting. As a place, it's really nice to dine in, but it could be improved if the priority was a bit more on a great tasting meal than food ideas. Having said all that, it certainly was good value.
