Gather at the Blue Pig Tavern, our distinctive restaurant tucked in the corner of Congress Hall. Known for hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites, its name derives from a gambling parlor sited in Congress Hall in the mid-1800s. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. Today, we offer timeless classics and new seasonal delights with ingredients that are always farm-fresh.

Service wasn’t great - a bit curt and check was brought without asking whether we wanted any coffee, dessert or anything else. No checking to see how the meal was after food brought. Food was adequate but nothing special. Disappointed that there was only pub food on Christmas - would have expected at least one or two Christmas specials. Very nicely decorated though.

Christmas Eve. Full restaurant yet meals were served perfect temperatures. Clams in white sauce outstanding starter. Braised short ribs were fork tender. Could have stood a little more salt but a very good entrees. Friendly professional service. The main dining room is quite beautiful but could not get a table.

Excellent service and good food are staples at the Blue Pig. The atmosphere is lively yet not too noisy. Great restaurant if you are looking for a unique menu selection that will not break your bank!

Everything was lovely but it was very hard to enjoy it as we were seated in middle of room with people surrounding us very closely. I felt as I was having lunch with strangers who dominated the conversation. It was anything but the cozy warm atmosphere we imagined for our special Christmas Eve lunch. There were tables that were more secluded but we were told they were reserved for others. They remained empty till we departed. Having an open table reservation well in advance did not seem to be of value this time. However I would be remiss if I did not rate the service, food and decor as fabulous!

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Food was good, came out pretty quickly and was hot and delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, all in all a great experience. We went here on the recommendation of friends who also had a great time; they were right-good place!
