Born in Milan to a renowned restaurant family, Chef/Owner Maurizio Michi has always had a passion for cooking.
This Northern Italian Restaurant features classics that include, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Veal Chop Emiliana, Fish Stew Viareggina, along with Steaks, Lamb Chops and grilled Sea Bass Branzino all of which are executed to perfection under his watchful eye.
Sofi also offers authentic Italian pastas that are prepared in house daily with the freshest ingredients in the market.
Bread, Focaccia and all of our desserts are also prepared daily.
some examples of the desserts include Panna Cotta, Chocolate Souffle, TiramiSu and Ricotta cheese cake.
The wine list is comprised mainly of wine from Italian vineyards with some California exceptions.

The space features 60 seats with a front patio that holds 30. This is Michi's first solo restaurant in Chicago, although he's a vet that was literally born in a kitchen in Italy. He owned a restaurant in New York City for five years before moving to Chicago.

Surprising find. Great for post-symphony dinner on a Sunday night. Excellent menu and service. Very sensible wine list.

Hello Margo! You also wrote a review on Yelp making false statements which you have since deleted. You and your date finished all the dishes and your date even thanked the waiter leaving a 20% tip so I'm really not sure what the problem is. In your Yelp review you said the "lettuce" under the burrata was brown, I would like to inform you that the burrata is served with a mixed salad and not lettuce and mixed salad has different colors including a dark purple, this does not mean the salad is old. We wish you all the best!

Absolutely terrible service, waiter was very dry. Waiter didn’t check back or offer refills on our drinks. The food was not good, I do not recommend this restaurant.
