Young Joni is James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim's restaurant located in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. The menu is inspired by wood fire cooking and features an array of globally influenced dishes and signature pizzas. Dining Room reservations are offered for dinner and weekend brunch; walk-ins are available at our bar and community table.

Young Joni is the recipient of 2019's James Beard Award for "Best Chef Midwest"; it has been featured in the New York Times and Vogue, and on Netflix's "Chef's Table: Pizza."

Tucked discreetly behind Young Joni is the back bar, serving full and no-proof craft cocktails and pizzas in a warm, analog setting. Esquire named it one of 2019's Best Bars in America and Eater called it an "Essential Minneapolis Bar." Walk down the alley alongside Young Joni and look for the red light; when the light is on, the back bar is open. Back bar reservations are available, and walk-ins are always welcome.

We had a delicious lunch. We shared three pizzas and an entree called Juk served in a bowl. The jasmine rice in the bottom of the bowl was like a warm porridge. It was so filling on a cold day. The short rib meat on the Juk was very tender. The shared entree was polished off. We opted for a spirit-free drink called El Santo because we were heading to a cookie decorating event afterward. The drink was delicious. The server recommended the drink, and she was spot on. We look forward to returning again.

Every dish we had was amazing and had such wonderful flavor. This is a great place to go with a group because then you are able to try more things because it is served family style. I highly recommend.

This was our second visit to Young Joni and each time we were over-the-top amazed by the food and service. Be sure to try the cauliflower, ribs and Korean BBQ pizza. Delicious! The experience was made so wonderful by the impeccable service of our server, Benjamin. He is a true professional and knows the dishes inside and out. He's AAAA+++ in our book

One of the most disappointing dining experiences. I was celebrating my birthday and we had chosen Young Joni. No branzino or carrot cake. Server didn’t advise of these menu issues until we were ordering. A restaurant of this caliber shouldn’t be running out of these items by 6 pm on a weekend evening. Server/staff made no effort at service recovery. “Excuses” were just that. Pizzas were fair at best. Better options in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Parking was a challenge on a winter evening but once inside it felt warm and hospitable. As always the pizzas were outstanding and our salad was unique and wonderful. The server was a bit over the top but not distracting, just a bit too friendly for us. The dessert of crisp was fabulous. One comment was the changes in the menu since my last visit. They have removed many of the entrees and added some great small plates and pizza as I said really unique and great and pricey but worth it.

Our server, Bri, was attentive, warm and knowledgeable! She really made the dining experience above and beyond great on top of the fantastic food.
