Whighams Wine Cellars was opened in August 1983, on the site of early 19th century cellars in the basement of a private residence in Charlotte Square.
Over the past 40 years, Whighams has grown to become a leading wine bar and restaurant in Scotland"s capital city, frequented by locals as well as visitors from all over the world.
Whighams Wine Cellars, through its unique design offers a choice of settings, from intimate cellar snugs to more spacious open areas, marrying old world and contemporary styles.
It is possible to enjoy a meal or snack at any time of day or evening, choosing from menus which are freshly prepared in our kitchens by our experienced team of chefs. We source produce daily and as locally as possible, with the emphasis being on fresh seafood as our speciality.

I have to say I love going to Wighams. It’s a lovely restaurant with a huge bar. Always seems bustling. Great atmosphere. Food is delicious and the staff are professional and lovely.

The Goan fish curry was very bland and the menu said mixed fish - mine was 98% salmon. Salmon is a very cheap fish ! The portion of smoked salmon was minuscule !

Lovely wine & good service. Bit of a wait to be able to order food but it was a busy Friday evening so they did their best to accommodate.

Food was excellent. We all had different mains and they were all well received. The fish curry is worth a special mention. Service was professional, prompt and warm.

First course returned. Poor temperature, second course returned - fish undercooked. Wife’s fried fish had soggy batter and poor chips. No desert course offered

One of the few independent restaurants in the West End that cook their own food and do it very well. Excellent service, food and atmosphere
