URBAN BUTCHER is an "alternative steakhouse" in a truly authentic space that sources meticulously and pushes flavors to the bold. Our menu of robust meats is complemented by dishes that make for a light dinner on their own.

With our welcoming patio, open-air dining room and upbeat sidewalk bar, we pride ourselves as much on the quality of our products as our vibrant atmosphere. An in-house meat cellar showcases an artisan charcuterie program while fun signature cocktails complement dishes like charred globe artichokes and beef tartare. And then there’s the steak. Local prime angus 60-day dry aged steaks and 30-day salt packed beef tenderloin are the robust stars of an encore-worthy show-- which is the best steak in the DC area.

The Urban Butcher is an outstanding place for dinner. We heard a lot about it from our Son who has been there several times, but this was our first visit to celebrate my wife’s Birthday. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the front attendant. We were promptly seated at our table and service began immediately. Our waiter (forgot his name) was there only one week, but you would swear he owned the place. He was very personable and informative and provided superior service for our dinner service. He even gave us a tour of the cooler aging room where the meats are aged, a very interesting experience. All of our steak entrees were incredible, some of the best rib-eye I have ever eaten. We can’t wait to return!

Urban Butcher knocked it out of the ballpark. The steak and charcuterie were very high quality, the execution was spot on, and the vibe is fun.

The food was very expensive and not very good at all. Ordered steak and fish and pasta and everyone didn’t like it. The service was horrible. They forgot a whole dish then rushed it out and didn’t finish cooking it. I do not plan to go back and would not recommend it.

We ordered the Meat Mountain, which is an incredible bargain. We had enough meat left over for two more meals for two. The aged steak was the best beef I've had in the U.S. Be sure to tip extra--the Meat Mountain is served on a cast-iron mini-stove with charcoals to keep the food warm. It looks extremely heavy. Bless the staff who carry it to and from tables.

Love the new, revised menu. The original was good but loved the simplicity of the updated version. Lavender mojito is always a favorite. Chef's table assortment was very tasty though I did miss the labeling of the items on the board. Tuna ceviche was delicious and very well seasoned. Had a bite of the hubs Mac and cheese which was a beautiful twist on a favorite - cheesy but not gooey. Hubs enjoyed his food (can't remember how its spelt) and my bronzini which is often a favorite missed the mark with very little seasoning and no filler since I was led to believe it would be stuffed with jalapenos and some starch. All in all it was good. Still one of my favorites. BTW, love the new decor in the cosy room.

The food was good, and the service was excellent. They were able to accommodate a table for 7 in the back where it was much more quiet. The doughnuts alone are a reason to go.

The Urban Butcher has a good variety of meats for the hungry! It also has side dishes and entrees that can be shared and eaten by those who are not into meat. We recently celebrated a birthday, and the only thing to mention is that we had a bottle of champagne to share and those at the end of the table didn't get a taste, as the server stayed at the head of the table most of the time. Other than that, we had a great time!
