As a UMASS alum, my husband and I wanted to explore the new location and possibly become a member, network, and leverage the facilities for future business meetings. While the 360 views on the 32nd floor overlooking Boston were terrific, the service and quality of food fell short. To begin:
•Security didn’t have our name on the list despite advanced reservations
•We wanted to get more information about becoming a member and was told to email someone in sales. It would have been an excellent opportunity to upsell the facilities while we were there at that moment. The host didn’t seem very interested in even talking with us or providing a 2-minute tour/overview. Note: It was NOT busy at all. She was more preoccupied with her phone than engaging with us.
•The quality of food was inconsistent. The sous-chef who cooked our appetizers was on-par! In fact, we were very impressed. Our main dishes, on the other hand, prepared by the chef. Not so thrilling. The steak was cooked to my temperature preference; however, very dry.
•The fish special tasted like it went bad over a week ago, so we sent it back. Once the bill came, we had to ask for a manager to remove the charges. We shouldn’t have to ask.
•We indicated in our reservations notes that we were celebrating a special occasion, my birthday. Our server didn’t even acknowledge or make us feel special. He clearly didn’t read our reservation details.
As a result of this experience, we’d be embarrassed to take clients here and are no longer considering becoming members. The staff seemed stuffy. We would return for a cocktail to enjoy the views (once COVID restrictions are lightened), but that’s about it.
