Trattoria Gio is an Italian restaurant in the heart of old Montreal, on the Place Jacques Cartier. We are a family restaurant specializing in pizzas and pastas made from scratch using authentic family recipes. We offer a romantic atmosphere and elegant setting. Our terrace offers a great view of Montreal's majestic Hotel de Ville, and comes to life in the evening to the music of the city's talented street performers.
We accept reservations and recommend them for large groups, anniversaries and corporate events. Benvenuto!

                                                                                                            El lugar es agradable, nuestra mesera muy amable. Pedimos las bebidas y trajeron una mal, pedimos las entradas y en lugar de Focaccia fue la base de la pizza con jitomate, buena, pero no fue lo que pedimos. Luego pedimos las pastas y de nuevo trajeron una que no era, la mesera la pidió de nuevo a la a cocina y la que nos dieron de verdad que nada buena, la pasta súper cocida, la salsa de jitomate y crema, ni sabor ni textura. Lástima porque pareciera que fuera un buen lugar.

                                                                                                            The location has a great ambiance and, overall, good service. The staff was kind and rather attentive despite how busy it was for Valentine’s Day. However, the food failed to match any of the aforementioned, the pasta was overcooked and bland, the burrata was lacklustre at most (tomatoes were insipid), and the lasagna was underwhelming at best. Frozen dinners have tasted better than the meal and at 1/3 of the price. Maybe it was an off day, but an Italian place that serves over-cooked pasta dishes is quite appalling.

                                                                                                            Awesome food great atmosphere and quiet. Got a table by the window and had a great view outside which was nice. The service was exceptional. First time as we are aussies the menu was in English and they spoke English which made our visit so much easier. Couldn’t fault and will return before we leave.

                                                                                                            Absolute nightmare of a choice for our New Year’s Eve dinner. Maybe it was due to a busy night that the service was nonexistent, but nonetheless, we made a reservation ahead of time yet when we got there, we waited over 30 minutes to be seated. Our mains were delivered before our entree. My partner ordered a butter linguine that tasted like pasta water, it was dry and tasteless. The mixed olives are not worth it, the calamaris that arrived late were the only edible item on the menu. Once our meals were delivered, we never saw our waiter again. I had to fetch someone in order to get the bill. Also, 0/10 for the service. The waiters were unbothered by our presence, when I asked about the reservation delay, I got completely dismissed. Later I went to ask for a new fork since it fell and I waited next to the worker who ignored me until I had to practically do hand signs. They then greeted me as if I was bothering them. We left as quickly as we could, we passed by the bathroom that was completely flooded as well. They also didn’t bother asking customers who were waiting in the line to close the door which left us and many other freezing during the entire experience. Bottom line, I’d blindly go to any other restaurants at the old port.
