Top Hatters Kitchen and Bar is a modern neighborhood restaurant, that has secured a place on the SF Chronicle's top 100 list and has been honored with a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. We serve an eclectic mix of rustic made-from-scratch dishes, celebrating the wonderful textures that make up our neighborhoods. We offer a mingling of small and large plates, meant to be shared, always nuanced and inspired by what we harvest from our neighboring small farms. Our food is approachable, eschewing complicated names, and bohemian in spirit as we are nonconforming and unconventional—sophisticated only in the way we can weave different ethnic influences and ingredients together.

I recently dined at Tophatter Restaurant and had a fairly pleasant experience. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with a charming rustic decor. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. The menu offered a decent variety of dishes, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. While the food was generally good, there were a few minor hiccups. The appetizers took a bit longer to arrive than expected, and the dessert options were somewhat limited. However, the overall quality of the meal made up for these small inconveniences. In terms of pricing, Tophatter Restaurant is reasonably priced for the quality of food and service provided. It's a great spot for a casual dinner with friends or family. I would recommend giving it a try if you're in the area and looking for a comfortable dining experience.

We love this place. Service wasn’t the best this time. QR code ordering is annoying and we felt rushed. I don’t recommend making a reservation at 7:30 when they close at 9.

I loved the gluten-free, caraway crackers, which are very crisp and thin with great flavor. We were impressed with the mushroom and hemp seed paté with rice crackers. The short ribs were the best part of the meal for me. I don’t remember last time, but this time the galangal pork strips seemed a bit dry. Maybe too lean. I only had a little bit of the pork belly, the leaner part. It seemed overdone this time around, or maybe I should’ve had a fattier piece. I remember loving the pork belly last time, so I would try those again. The small plates are really unique and fun. I’ll come back to keep trying things! This was our 3rd visit.

Our party of eleven, including toddler twins, enjoyed a lovely birthday celebration dinner! Our servers were attentive, the food was amazing as always, and we were in and out quickly enough for the kids to avoid a meltdown. A win win!

The food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is lovely. Each dish has its own flavor profile, the flavors are amazing, the quality and presentation is amazing. A meal I dream about until the next time we go back. Love the Oxtail Stew, the meat platters are fantastic. The tissue bread, the artichokes, the mussels are all fantastic. And desserts are out of this world.

I find ordering thru my phone rude. I’m in a nicer restaurant I don’t want my phone out. Also gives you less interaction for waitstaff to see things like we needed spoons or for me to ask for ice for my water. I love the food and cocktails are fabulous but if I could change one thing stop making me use my phone!
