Nice place to eat a good steak. Usually food real good , but maybe with new years was busy food was cold. Potatoes well not cooked all the way. Steak had to be return.

We had a very nice New Year’s Day dinner with our family. Service was excellent and food was good.

Beautifully set table, in large room, but still comfortable. Waitress and bus boys were excellent! Friendly and patient with everyone. Most ordered the superb prime rib cooked med rare perfectly. Giant baked potatoes and excellent selection of dressing for salads. Carrot cake was very large delicious piece! Our favorite place to dine. You can never be disappointed with Toms!

My husband splurged on Dover Sole for his birthday. The waitress was so busy and had a hard time de-boning the fish. By the time he got his food, it was cold and still had many bones. For $58 they should have someone serving it with more experience and time. My tournados were wonderful, tender and delicious. My Mom had a hamburger. It was dry and very plain but like I told her, this ain’t no burger joint. The Brandy Ice was premade and refrozen. So it wasn’t soft. It was delicious but for $15 I expect it to be fresh and soft ice cream. Our waitress was busy and seemed frazzled. We were there over 2 hours and we had to try to catch her to order dessert and again to get the check and AGAIN to pay the check. We still left her 20%, but as I think about that it annoys me. Actually the busboy/helper deserves most of that tip. We will try again but not too soon.

We made a reservation, but decided we wanted to eat in the bar area. The owner is courteous and very customer service friendly and added us to the waitlist for a bar table. We didn't mind at all sitting at the bar.Ordered drinks and some shrimp cocktail. The food was excellent. We ordered the dover sole and salmon All excellent. Next time.. surf and turf. Love the neighborhood feeling with elevated service and food. Can't wait to go back. We used to live in the neighborhood and went here in the 80's. Even ran into some old friends Just love they kept this gem in Melrose and Tom is making plans to keep it going even better. We'll be back soon. Thank you!
