                  The Woodford Closed down!! i was not informed and was only told by a friend!! i booked the restaurant as a treat for mothers day so was very disappointed to be let down and also left without a restaurant booking??

                  CLOSED! The restaurant went out of business about a week after I booked it. Its very disappointing that the OpenTable system has not registered this fact - as evidenced by the fact that it just asked me to review my dining experience. So BE WARNED - being able to book through this site is no guarantee you'll get a meal. Fortunately I read about the closure in a local paper.

                  Well where do i start i booked this over 6 weeks ago to find out due to my investigating that the woodford has shut down x so basically dont book because its not open x would if appreciated being told that it had gone into liquidation .

                  I am amazed that Open Table has asked me to review this restaurant. We made the reservation three months before our booking. In the intervening period the restaurant closed down. The restaurant did not inform us and neither did Open Table. I found out by chance when planning our journey there. Terrible customer service from both companies.

                  Once again the Woodford delivered lovely food and a great ambience. The Valentine's menu included a foil gras and parmesan foam amuse bouche that was light and packed with taste, as well as excellent starters. But it was the miso glazed black cod main that was the star - beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Live piano music added to the tone. Service was attentive without being OTT.

                  Valentines dinner was overpriced. Perfect occasion to "wow" new clients @ £110 per head with half a glass of champagne to start was not the best way. Will I return again... maybe ... possibly to compare with a "normal" occasion.

                  Our expectations of The Woodford were high and reinforced by the Manager who after our waiting for 40 mins for our table showed us to The Chefs Table waxing lyrical about their many awards. It started out well with the friendly staff welcoming us and exchanging pleasantries. However it took 45 mins for our starter to come and then it looked different and maybe even a little smaller that the other plates going out to the main reasturant. When our main course came a further 50 mins after our starters where cleared and we had had finished a very nice bottle of red, my £44 wagu ribeye arrived and was the size of a postage stamp of which half was inedible fat and the whole thing covered in an overpower peppercorn sauce that I didn't request. Chef took the time as did the manger to apologies and remarked that it was too busy and it was not them at their best, and a trio of dessert was brought to make up for our current disappointment with a promise that we would not be paying for our mains. Let just say that two starters, two bottles of red wine (we had nothing to do but eat but bread so don't judge) and an apparent Free desert came to just under £120... Mine and my wife first meal out together for three months and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. If you go, go in a good day as apparently they are amazing. Phil, Wanstead.

                  The Woodford is a lovely restaurant and the food is always excellent. However, they were really let down buy the speed of service on Saturday. On 3 occasions we had to ask for our glasses to be refilled. We received our main courses and didn't receive the wine until we were nearly finished, despite asking for our glasses to be refilled. It was hard to tell whether they were short staffed as there did seem to be a lot of staff around. They just seemed to be disorganised and therefore inattentive. When you are spending £100 a head you really should receive better service. So to summarise, a lovely place with great food, but they need to work on the service element if they want to charge these prices. I am afraid to say that I have fallen out of love with the place after this performance.

                  Nice ambience, can't complain about my dish, however my companion's lobster pasta..well..the lobster must have done a runner because she could hardly find any. Drinks way too overpriced. Overall I will likely return if only for a 'special occasion'
