Great experience at Refuge, one of the best restaurants in Manchester. It has been a while since I last visited but it did not disappoint, the food was tasty and the service was attentive. Our needs were met and we were not rushed. The setting and atmosphere makes this place. The prices seem higher but it is worth the trip, the menu also seems to have reduced but still a great selection of dishes.

Food was delicious, and ambience amazing as always! Slow drink service as the waitress didn’t understand our drinks order - Large Pinot Grigio & Large Pinot Noir.

Food arrived cold, waiter made whole theatrics of bringing plates hot but food was still cold. Beef had no flavour, potatoes were stale. Not the best roast dinner for 100£. Definitely worth trying somewhere else.

We booked the Winter Garden as the website leads you to believe that you can have the full menu in there - you can't; it's just bar snacks. Whilst it's a beautiful room we did want to eat before the gig we were going to, so we asked the server to be moved to the main dining room. We'd had two drinks in the Winter Garden and - understandably - before we moved the waiter wanted us to settle the bill. He added a £2.50 service charge even though we were going to be eating in the dining room! We ate our food - it was average, served in good time etc. A further service charge of £6.95 was added, but we were then asked verbally and on the bill if we would like to leave a 'Gratuity'? Gorgeous building - former Refuge Assurance building - and would have loved to have explored it a little further.

Poor service, wait time was slow and no cutlery or napkins. Not enough staff ..current staff inexperienced. Food was not good and drinks took ages . We were so looking forward to going here but sadly disappointed

The Winter Garden is a separate experience from the main restaurant, but the hotel seems to be trying to run both with a very limited levels of staffing. Priority is given to the main restaurant, making service in the Winter Garden painfully slow. The staff were friendly and helpful, but they’re up against it to be honest. The hotel either needs to staff the Winter Garden adequately, or revert back to it being part of the bar area. Continuing with the level of staffing experienced this Sunday is only likely to get both the Winter Garden and the main restaurant a bad reputation. It hardly needs stating that there are plenty of other restaurants to choose from in Manchester.
