The Winning Post has long been serving the racing and polo community of Ascot, Windsor and Guards Polo Club and is widely believed to bring punters luck at the races… or perhaps it’s just the place to pick up the best race tips.
Set in the picturesque village of Winkfield in Berkshire, this quaint 18th century pub offers 12 rooms, each with a private bathroom, as well as free Wi-Fi, a Freeview TV and a vista of The Winning Post’s beautiful, leafy gardens. Guests can enjoy a traditional cooked English breakfast each morning.
The Winning Post offers a superb range of Upham ales brewed in neighbouring Hampshire, wines and champagnes, as well as a traditional pub menu made with locally-sourced ingredients.
Barely 10 minutes from Ascot Racecourse and just 5 miles from the M4, The Winning Post is highly accessible, and also offers free, on-site parking.

I was looking forward to this booking as the food is always amazing. I was disappointed to be seated at a table between the men’s toilet and the back door. The back door was constantly in use, foot traffic was very high and the heating wasn’t on. I understand covid rules mean one way in and one way out and people eating outside need to come in to use the toilet, but this should mean that the table we had, didn’t exist. I am also pregnant and would have expected to feel a bit safer when choosing to dine out.

Lovely afternoon of lunch the food was so good we had three courses for lunch and skipped dinner later that day! The fish pie was very fishy which is a win!

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the opportunity to meet up for an evening with friends, to celebrate 2 x 50th birthdays. The atmosphere and festive decorations were lovely and we ate outside in a sheltered, heated teepee! Our whole experience would have been 5 stars was it not for the fact a surprise £99 bottle of champagne didn’t get delivered to our table! (we only found out about it once home, as one of our husbands had arranged this as a surprise!). Would have been a wonderful treat - I had to phone and ask them to call him and arrange for the money to be refunded to him, which was poor and spoilt an otherwise wonderful evening.

The food was just OK nothing special. Overpriced for what it was. Definitely went down the hill from our last visit few years ago

Splendid and relaxed place to lunch even in these weird days. Table service was attentive and pleasant, food was hearty and tasty and ambience superb with good social distancing. Definately a place to visit.

Excellent service. Food good but very limited veg with Sunday lunch. Big place so quite noisy but atmosphere was good.
