   Came here in November for hubby's birthday and food / service impeccable 10/10. Back tonight for my birthday food 10/10, service 2/10. Sat for ages waiting for mains plates to be removed despite table next to us being attended to. Eventually plates removed, desert menu and a glass of wine requested, sat for ages - no sign and left table to pay at bar. Not acknowledged at bar waiting to pay whilst another customer shown to table. Person who processed bill never asked how our meal was, had we enjoyed ourselves just took the money. So disappointing. Such a stark contrast to our previous experience - very lack lustre!

   Good rural location for a country pub near the North Downs Way (single track road in and out). Interior has a stunning design and very cosy feel. Food is exceptional, costs a little more than average but well worth it. Cannot wait to return as its only 40 minutes away

   Visited to celebrate mother’s retirement. I had the scotch egg starter, she had the leek soup of the day. Both were great. Scotch egg with lamb kofte meat was tasty with a runny yolk. Mother said the soup was delicious. Sourdough bread accompanying it was great as was the butter. For mains I had the burger and she had the beef and Mac and cheese. Again both were very tasty. Only a couple of negatives. We asked for a jug of water which never came so we had to ask again and then we got two glasses (no biggy). And mother asked for a glass of Merlot and was given a Malbec but when seen on the bull it was rectified immediately and price changed accordingly. The setting was good the arm on my chair was loose and did come off a couple of times. It was a little noisy but nothing too bad. The food is a little on the pricey side but was tasty nonetheless and I would recommend.

   Lovely dining experience. We visited on a busy Friday evening, but the staff were excellent. Very nice atmosphere. Food was excellent.

   Great food & service as always - wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place - only hang up is car park a bit small & sometimes tricky to get in there
