Traditional 1700s pub with a bar menu of classic British and global food. The Three Houses is located in Sandal just a stones throw from Sandal Castle. Serving local produce - and those a bit further afield - we bring our take of modern bistro food into a vibrant and creative world. We serve seasonally inspired cuisine alongside Yorkshire favourites. If you like Yorkshire puddings then try our giant Yorkshire filled with a full Sunday lunch!!

Having eaten previously here and having had excellent good pub food meals the experience this time was the opposite. Food was good once again but the 'experience ' was not. Having been met on entering, shown to our table and then orders taken for drinks and food we were then left waiting for 45 mins between our main course and dessert, having chosen not to have a starters. Given the wait we had all decided that we no longer wanted to wait further, so went to pay at the bar. No-one around so in the end had to knock on the bar to get any attention! Apologies we're given for the wait at the bar and I suggested that the 35 min wait for dessert was less acceptable to be told that I should have ordered at the bar as there is no table service during the week before 5.00pm! Very strange given our original order was taken at the table and there is no indication anywhere that the expectation is to order at the bar. An adjacent table had also had there dessert order taken at the table, so why not us? It would appear that the management need to be clear about their ordering arrangements and make this clear to customers....either they offer table service or not! Today's experience has soured our view on the overall previous good quality of both the food and service.

Overall the meals were lovely, although the steak pie was overcooked. It had obviously been made as a large pie and then sliced into portions and reheated when needed. This made the pastry dry and hard, which was a shame as the steak filling was delicious but we wouldn't order it again. The steak was cooked to perfection . The staff were very friendly and helpful

First time eating here, table of 9 as an early Mothers Day treat, lovely place and friendly staff. Everything on the menu looked delicious. Food came out in good time and portion sizes were great. Everyone had clean plates. Would definitely recommend and be returning.

Lovely atmosphere in the bar when we arrived, had a drink then headed to the table, beautiful good quality food, great service all at a reasonable price

Great homely place, the food was very good, steak and ale pie and the chips were delicious, my 3rd visit and will happily return, would like a few more options on the menu! Maybe a specials board?

Nice place, good to see it back to been a busy pub. Service could improve somewhat. 3 requests for a glass of water with our drinks, finally it was placed on someone else's table. No bread came with the fish and chips, after reminding, the bread came, without any butter. Drinks order took so long it would be quicker going to the bar . Just points of experience. I will still go again. Its a nice place, the food very nice, value for money and staff very pleasant. I did leave earlier than I planned as the noise level was loud .

Good scampi. Had mashed potatoes instead of chunky chips. Also good. Only criticism was that what was described as tartare sauce was not proper tartare sauce.
