   Thoroughly enjoyed our first meal at the Stubborn Duckling. All four of us enjoyed every course our compliments to the chef. As friends we eat out regularly when we get together and have become increasingly disappointed with the quality of food being served for increasing prices. We shall definitely return. Excellent service, standards and quality, thank you.

   Lovely new restaurant, good choice on menu. Staff very nice and helpful. Delicious goan curry and everyone enjoyed the food. Drinks were also reasonable.

   Always wanted to eat at the stubborn duckling and now they have moved to the new venue, which is stunning by the way, we made it in for a Saturday evening .. what can I say the staff are lovely as a starter .. the start is the food of course partner had the lamb rump and I had the fish and chips .. both dishes amazing flavour wise etc .. lamb cooked to perfection with the truffle mash with a gravy with so much flavour . Fish cooked beautifully .. we had “snacks” as starters .. duck spring rolls, pork crackling and focaccia.. again spot on and the bread the lightest more flavourful ever had .. if you are in the area you need to book .. we will definitely be back it’s the new favourite .. thank you stubborn duckling for a great evening x

   Sadly we were really disappointed with our evening. Having dined in their previous premises we felt that the new restaurant lacked character and we felt we were dining in a hotel conference room. The acoustics were terrible, we couldn’t hear any other diners chatter, only some generic grunge music. There was no natural light apart from 2 small sky lights and rows and rows of spotlights. No candles. No mood lighting. A strange neon focal light quoting an Artic Monkeys track. Table was wobbly and instead of fixing it we were asked to move tables. Food was ok but overpriced. Soggy duck spring rolls, cheese soufflé that resembled a dome of cheese mousse, and not in a ramekin. I expected the hispi cabbage side to be whole and charred, not finely sliced and steamed for £5.50. We had 3 courses in 1hr and 20 mins. Felt rushed. Wine choices were uninspired and lacked in choice. Australian Shiraz or Chilean merlot? We dined in their previous premises last year and loved it! The whole experience. Where is the chatty Italian waiter?? Really sad to write this review but we were hoping for an enjoyable dining experience.

   Good value food Efficient good service The eating area is a little echoey and loud so might be challenging for older people - maybe some soft furnishings might help .

   We've been to the Stubborn Duckling several times before. The new venue is superb and the service, friendly and attentive. Somehow the new menu just didn't have quite the same wow factor that we recall from previous visits. We intend to revisit when they have had a chance to settle in. The glass covered well is an interesting feature.

    Lovely food served by efficient and friendly staff. The premises is newly decorated and comfortable. A good wine and drinks menu compliments the food. The stubborn duckling is close to the town center and there is paid parking not far away. Competitively priced and expertly cooked dishes make any visit worthwhile.
