The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

This is an exclusive dining event. The Chef's table is a 7-course blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to ho it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Amazing experience with dining at the bar. Bar tender Alex was very courteous and reviewed our likes and dislikes when prepping the cocktails. Cocktails were delicious and food was superb

From the point of being seated until I payed the bill my party of four felt rushed and pressured to accommodate a party of seven. I left an 18% tip because I am nice but it was terrible. I still smell like grease from the poor ventilation and it’s been 2 hours. Nothing like a shower after a meal out. If this is the standard, yikes.

Have been here three times for brunch and dinner and all times have been a hit. You can tell the menu was carefully thought out and not overwhelming. Every single dish we’ve had here has been exceptional. Service has also been great each time!

Brunch was fantastic. The sweet rolls were the best thing to start with and probably could have split another item but we went for both the frittata and the chicken. Happy we got to try both. Just delicious!

Fantastic as always, we sat at the bar and shared some small plates, oysters, and had Belgian chocolate chip sourdough cookies and house made gelato. They also have a fantastic selection of Belgian beers!

Our first time there for an impromptu Holiday staff celebration for 4 ppl. Everything was absolutely amazing. Our server was phenomenal, the room temperature was comfortable (can be cool in some restaurants), the ambiant music was at a comfortable level while not distracting or interupting our conversation, the seating was comfy, the decor is classy, sophisticated and elegant, and the food was scrumptious. The wine list had a good mix of wines from various regions, and the delicious mocktail list enabled our co-op student to feel included in our toast & celebration. The Standard really made our experience today. Kudos all around!

Excellent cocktails and very good food served by personable staff. The decor is warm and comfortable. The air, however, was anything but; beware of bar seating on cold nights. The bar is in a straight line to the single door.
