Casual, coastal restaurant in Bloomington. Reservations are taken for the dining room only, patio seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please check in with hosts upon arrival for patio seating.

Although named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. Owner Josh Thoma had a great recipe and a belief that the appetite for fresh lobster in the Twin Cities was as strong as in any coastal city.

Smack Shack is committed to serving sustainable seafood and is a partner in the Minnesota Zoo’s Fish Smart program. Sustainable seafood is wild-caught or farm-raised seafood that has established practices to ensure the long-term growth and thriving populations of seafood with limited harm to the environment.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      My party of 4 had a great time recently during restaurant week. I’ve been here many times and while the food is spot on about 90% of the time, customer service has always been 110%. Lobster mac and cheese is awesome and so is the lobster roll. I also had their jambalaya, which I thought was more like gumbo consistency, had the right amount of heat and flavor for me. Our server was the best. She could not have been more friendly and provided great service. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good place to enjoy your evening with family and friends.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      We were seated immediately and our server Jody was quick to take our orders. The restaurant was not very busy but it took a long time to get our food. The problem was with the kitchen not our server, who kept checking with us and apologizing for the delay. Food was flavorful.

It didn't disappoint - food was great and we were able to get in and out in time to get to our event on time.
