Welcome to The Sidings, a unique destination brought to you by Carriages Restaurant. Nestled amidst serene landscapes, The Sidings combines a farm shop and café to offer an immersive experience for train enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs alike. Our exquisite First Class carriage café, adorned with elegant art-deco elements, provides a one-of-a-kind dining experience from 10am – 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 3pm on Sundays. Our carriage Farm Shop, open from 10am – 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sundays, features fresh, seasonal, locally produced products, ensuring quality and sustainability.
You can book a table for inside the café, however walk ins are welcome. We are only dog friendly outside on a lead, unless they are a service dog. Smoking is not permitted on site.

First Class Afternoon Tea at The Sidings, served in the charming setting of our First Class train carriage.
Enjoy a perfect cup of James Gourmet coffee or explore the variety of Teapigs teas we have to offer. For an extra touch of sparkle, upgrade to a glass of prosecco for just £4 per person.
Our Afternoon Tea is served from 2pm to 4pm, offering the perfect mid-afternoon escape. We strive to accommodate all dietary requirements, so please make a note when booking or reach out to us directly.

Attentive & friendly staff. Didn't find menu overly tempting, but our choices were both very tasty (Ploughman's & Rosemary focaccia option). Busy at lunchtime, but not overly noisy. Location in railway carriage very novel. Will try coffee & cake next time!

Very good menu and service in original setting. No soft drinks available, except water, for diabetics. Time restriction of 75 minutes takes the edge off a bit. Overall through a great lunch.

Lovely and unique place to eat and entertain our old friends. Just the right level of friendly, unobtrusive and efficient service, and of course, wonderful food that we thought excellent value for money.

Whist waiting outside for the sidings to open as we were early, a member of staff arrived for her shift and greeted us as she walked by, I love that! And I heard her greet her colleague which was also polite and friendly. The surroundings were lovely. Can't wait to return in the summer and see the produce thriving in the beds. Excellent food. There staff are a credit to them, I will be spreading the word.

It’s a Rocket issue!! My husband hates Rocket! I actually don’t mind it but a salad garnish drenched in Rocket Oil is really unpleasant. Couldn’t eat it. Surely you could offer a limited choice of dressing? The farm shop has many to choose from!
Everything else is great! Staff are pleasant & attentive & make it a lovely place to eat. H
