With beautiful surroundings, and a stylish interior, The Sheep Heid Inn in Edinburgh is a classic meets modern pub, a perfect setting for any occasion. My wife and I spend on our last day in Edinburgh and found this is the oldest pub in Edinburgh and decided to eat here. Their service are wonderful. However it takes longer to wait for someone to come and check on us. Overall is amazing and rich experience. :)

Lovely place, great service and excellent food. Even though we had to wait until our table was ready the staff was very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

We arrived early September and it was evident wait staff were weary from tourists. Energy was low; smiles and friendliness were lacking. Very robotic in going through the necessary motions. However, after seeing how many international tour busses and thousands of people visit this city daily, I can understand their tired dispositions. The food was excellent, as well as the ambiance.

Great place to eat outside the Royal Mile. On our way to Sheep’s Heid the view of Arthur’s Seat was spectacular. Everything about the restaurant was great; the ambiance, food and service. All the entrees looked delicious! My family ordered each one so we can all try a bite. I would definitely dine here again.

This is a special place but we think sitting downstairs is critical. We were seated upstairs with large birthday party and found both food and atmosphere disappointing

The sheips heid was very good the booking through open table not good. The booking did not go through and we did not get our table and had to rebook

This 600 year old establishment has been updated but retains its sense of history. It has had a ten-pin (skittles) bowling alley since the time of James VI. Queen Eliz dropped 'round for a pub meal in 2016! (Her palace is just down the road)

Brought my partner there as a special outing because it was recommended. I am here performing in the Royale Edinburgh Military Tattoo. I made reservations for two at 4:30. We were seated and waited and waited. Finally I had to flag down a server to ask if we could please place our order. Then after appetizer and drink were served we waited for 40 minutes and no food came. I had to leave the table again to find a server (who were socializing behind the bar) to ask where our food was. He asked me what I ordered and then had a shocked expression on his face. Apparently he forgot to put the order in. He came back from the kitchen and said it would be a few minutes. He obviously lied about placing our order and we had to leave without having eaten dinner because I had a performance to get to. Horrible experience. Very poor waitstaff.

Always happy to go to the Sheep Heid Inn for an authentic Sunday lunch. The place is cosy but not stuffy and the food / drinks never disappoint.
