Sitting right on the High Street in Cranleigh, The Richard Onslow is a busy pub with great food, 10 beautiful bedrooms, and is conveniently located near Guildford. We have worked hard to retain the period features in this historic building and we hope that our modern and unfussy approach to decor, service, and food will give you the perfect place to celebrate, spend time with friends or simply unwind with a coffee.

We enjoyed a very good lunch thank you. My haddock risotto special was excellent, my daughter in law was very happy with the duck and the two children enjoyed their fish and chips. The children's portions were quite small so we ordered extra fries! Very good and attentive service.

Another lovely meal with family to celebrate a birthday and a rare get-together. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated and given menus. The food was delicious, we had the Sunday Roast - the vegetarian wellington and also ordered was the curry, meat roast and sides. It was lovely, the food came out piping hot, beautifully fresh, and presented well and so yummy! The waitress came round to offer more vegetables or roasties, Yorkshire pads or gravy, which was a great touch. Deserts, well, all plates cleared, so I look forward to booking again. Thank you

My friend and I chose two starters each but we wanted to have them separately. This didn't happen (possibly because the waitress assumed we would have them together?!). Because of the above the food was probably kept warm and not served to its best potential. We chose 1 x tempura courgettes and 1 x honey baked sausages for the first serving then 1x crab fishcake with avocado, radish and pea shoots plus 1 x the baked camembert. The courgettes tempura was too thick and too oily and the camembert very overbaked. The bottle of French Sauvignon Blanc was good and enjoyable. We have had several good meals in the past but this was sadly not the best.

My friends and I opted for two starters each rather than a main course. All were excellent and I particularly enjoyed the courgette and aubergine one. The wine was good and we all very much enjoyed our lunch together.

Just personal comments on our choice of food - the terrine starter of parma ham and chicken was too dry and therefore quite difficult to eat. It was also accompanied by dry, very crispy toasted bread. It needed maybe a mayonnaise or some moisture! In contrast the mushroom and leek risotto was excellent - nicely presented and delicious.

We both enjoyed one of the 'Special' dishes which was the smoked salmon fishcake with wilted spinach and poached egg. Would definitely have the same dish on another occasion with hopefully a slightly more runny egg! (just my personal choice!).

Fab Sunday roast! Pork and Beef both excellent. Sticky Toffee pud also a treat!
