The Peacock, Austin Proper’s ground floor Mediterranean restaurant and lobby bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menus are inspired by the colorful culinary styles of Israeli and Turkish fare and include spit-roasted meats and vegetables grilled over the restaurant's wood-burning oven, flavorful tagines and hearty mezze platters and dips ideal for sharing. The sprawling bar provides a full dining experience throughout the lobby and outdoor lounge. Overlooking views of Shoal Creek can be taken in from the Peacock’s patio space and the private dining room balcony.

Food was fine but service was incredibly mediocre aside from the supplemental staff that filled our water glasses and cleared our plates. The additional 4% health surcharge really blew my mind on an already overpriced meal! Asking for 20% tip on top of that is just over the top.

Towards the end of the dinner our sever stopped coming around leaving us with empty glasses. We would have had desert but got tired of waiting.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Peacock Mediterranean Grill for a special birthday dinner, and it was nothing short of magical. I ordered the Sambousek featuring Lamb Ragu, Feta, Pistachio, and Butternut Squash, accompanied by Saffron Rice with Dill, Pistachio, and Lemon Zest. This was my first time trying lamb, and it was magnificent! The ragu was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the creaminess of the feta and the nutty crunch of pistachios. The butternut squash added a refreshing, slightly sweet balance, while the fried sage brought a delightful, aromatic touch. The saffron rice was equally impressive bright, zesty, and full of vibrant flavors from the dill and lemon zest. Each bite was a harmony of textures and tastes, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. The ambiance of The Peacock Mediterranean Grill and the quality of the meal made this birthday celebration truly unforgettable. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience with bold and refreshing Mediterranean flavors.

This is our go-to special occasion or date night spot and it never disappoints. We get the short rib hummus and dumplings every single time and a new bottle of wine that Bora Bora recommends us. He also gave us a birthday dessert! It’ll always be our spot- thank you for treating us so well each time.

The food and atmosphere was lovely. I went with a friend to celebrate their promotion. The bench seating though was very uncomfortable and the table space was very small for the two of us in the dining room. Made it awkward to eat. If you can get chair seating ask for that. Otherwise our server was excellent and helpful in answering questions and guiding us to a delicious meal!
