First visit since new management. Welcome from the landlord was warm and friendly and we sat at a corner table in the sunshine. Food came quickly (pub not busy). Four different menu choices, all of which we enjoyed although I thought £16 for Fajitas quite expensive considering the amount of chicken served with it. Husband said the pint of Guinness first class. The only downside was that, once the sun went in, the room felt cold and not that comfortable for four oldies! The radiator behind where I was sitting was lukewarm. We will return as the overall impression was good.

The staff were really lovely but the roast was a bit dry and we thought it was quite expensive. However, we did have a good time. The crumble and the cheese were broad were delicious. We will come again.

We ordered the Lamb Shanks for Main meal and it was cooked so well and was so tasty! Unfortunately the Pate starter was disappointing. it was nothing special for the price and presentation wasn’t great.

Always a pleasure to come to this pub. Thank you for another lovely evening! The asparagus risotto dish was absolutely delicious.

Lovely welcome on arrival. Very warm and cosy with wood burner going as outside wind and rain. Ordered drinks and then not long after through to the restaurant. Meal was yummy. Hubby had roast beef and pork and I had lamb shank both meals excellent with plenty of veg. Pudding one of us had sticky toffee pudding/custard and i had cheesecake with lovely fresh strawberries. Will certainly be back maybe during the week just for a change. Also looking forward to visiting when spring/summer arrives to enjoy the lovely garden.

We love the old pheasant, however tonight it was cold in the pub, uncomfortably so. We asked the barman when the fire was going on and he wasn’t particularly friendly to be frank! I appreciate that he seemed to be working alone, but he wasn’t friendly or engaging with us when we tried to strike up conversation, he was more interested in a long conversation about Newcastle football club with a man sitting at the bar. When the fire was lit he didn’t let us know or engage with us. I am critically ill, and became really cold at the pub which isn’t good for me. I love this pub and have had fantastic service in the past, this was disappointing. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it spoil the experience. This was my first time out of the house in a long time and it wasn’t the experience I had hoped for.

Very friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and served quickly. The dining area is lovely and cosy, and the staff and owner are always happy and helpful. I do not have a single bad thing to say, I highly recommend this place.
