Dining at The Old Deanery is an immersive experience, and you move through the building as you dine. Arrive into the cosy welcome lounge for pre-dinner drinks; chat, get comfortable, and relax – there will be no classical piano and hushed tones in here! Move through to the bar where you can watch some of the chefs work before they invite you to take your first course. The main event takes place in the restaurant, but forget white tablecloths and stilted service; the food may be formal but the atmosphere is not. Finally, you can retire after dinner to a cosy chair and enjoy a coffee and petits fours. Stay the night and enjoy views of either the lovely garden, or striking Cathedral. Then wake to a home-made breakfast board of granola, yoghurt, continental bites, and cooked goodness: A breakfast with a difference and the best way to sign off your stay.

Just incredible home baked goodies, fresh local continental treats and fresh juice to start. To follow our take on a Full Yorkshire breakfast with our chefs twist on the classic. Tasting Menu £90 with a £40 per person pre-paid deposit to secure the booking. Cancellations can be made up to 48hr before the table. If cancelled within the 48hr period the deposit will be lost. Head Chef Adam Jackson's Signature Tasting Menu created with seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. Due to the intricacy of our Tasting Menu and our small kitchen team we will not be able to cater for vegan guests or lactose free diners. All other allergies can be catered for.

Had Sunday lunch 3 courses menu with parents. Friendly staff, fabulous food and lovely atmosphere, quiet enough to have a conversation but not so quiet it was awkward! They accommodated my mum's dietary requirements even offering smaller portions of each course for her. Will definitely go again!

Exceptional!! In every sense this place is remarkable. The food is fantastic, the staff are fantastic and it’s in Ripon - it doesn’t get better!

The food is simply outstanding and fantastic value for money.Sunday lunch at £40 for 3 coarses is excellent value and probably one of the best Sunday roast I have had. Unfortunately when you arrive it felt very disorganised and very congested with to many chairs and sofas in the lobby.Also tables were been moved while we were eating to create space which is understandable but should have been arranged before paying customers arrived or were eating.Staff need to be dressed in the same clothing attire rather than all wearing different outfits including a scuffy jumper!All in all the food is of the highest quality and would certainly go back....just need to tidy up on the other aspects of a to become a top all-rounded restaurant.

Lovely charming and quirky old building, Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff and the food that came out of Adam Jackson’s kitchen was amazing, from the very well thought out and incredibly executed 9 course tasting menu to the beautiful breakfast. I couldn’t fault anything. Also the chef’s counter where Adam and his chef’s plate up dishes and chat to you is a lovely personable idea

The whole team were fantastic and provided a great service. The food, and wine pairing, was excellent. Would be great to have a cheese selection available.

The tasting menu at the Old Deanery is a very special experience, especially when the wine pairing is added. Each intricate and delicious dish is explained as is the wine choice and the service is second to none without being in any way obtrusive. The dining room itself is beautiful and everything adds to the ambience to create a lovely and personalised evening. This is the second time we have been at Christmas and you always wonder if it can possibly be as good again - it was!
