In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised.

Everything about our Sunday brunch was wonderful! Beautifully decorated for Christmas, amazing food and service and a scenic lake side setting and view from the rustic dining room.

Reservation for 5:30. No hostess. Waited 10 minutes and went to find someone to seat us. Waitress brought menus and water and didn't come back for another 15 minutes. Waited another 15 minutes for the wine to arrive. Waited almost an hour and a half for our food. Only saw the waitress about 3 times. She said they had a big party in the other room, not my problem. When the food finally came, the chicken breast was sliced in strips and some of the strips were undercooked. The table next to us sent their undercooked food back as well. When you wait that long for your meal, it should at least be cooked. Overall the food was decent, but I would not recommend the restaurant.

The shrimp appetizer was fantastic - but spicy. The charcuterie board was massive - could feed 4 people. Love the white French salad dressing. We got a steak with no steak knife - the steak was getting cold by the time it arrived

Haven’t been here for over 25 years. They haven’t skipped a beat. Beautiful Christmas decorations and yummy food! Can’t wait to go back when warmer weather comes.

Beautiful setting. We had a fantastic view of the lake from our table. The food was delicious. The waitress was very friendly. We highly recommend The Oaks.

Service was sub par compared to our other visits and for the price as well as it being a buffet we shouldn't have to track down our server multiple times to get our drinks that came after we finished eating. The kids loved all of the characters and attentiveness.

I did not realize that I’d reserved for their last time slot of 3:30pm on Thanksgiving so we took our time going back for the various foods. When I went to get my turkey there was no more gravy and the turkey carver guy said: “that’s it; we won’t be bringing out any more…”; I asked when they were closing and he said soon! I also had to stand in line at the prime rib carving station behind their own staff who were there to fill up all their to-go dinner containers! THAT was so rude and quite tacky. We had to keep asking for water in our 8oz glasses and it seemed like it took forever. Too bad; the setting is gorgeous and the food delicious. The cocktails we ordered at the bar before dinner was excellent! We had to wait around 25 minutes before our table was ready for our 3:30pm RSVP. Just don’t book for 3:30pm on Thanksgiving!

Our Thanksgiving Buffet was wonderful! Honestly the best turkey I’ve ever had! Tons of great desserts, lots of pies. The prime rib was excellent too. Waitress was great refilled our drinks and cleaned up plates as we went up for 2nds. The staff was great from the hostesses to our waitress to the men working the protein carvers as well as the ladies that were fill up the buffet. Truly a great experience!
