Inspired by our patron, Samuel Pepys, the restaurant delivers a passion for authentic cooking and locally-sourced produce. No one wants to spend the big day in the kitchen so let us do the hard work. Spend Christmas making cherished memories with family and friends. We’ve created the perfect home away from home for you to enjoy a delicious dinner before relaxing with loved ones. First seating is between 12:30 -15:00 and second seating is between 17:30 - 20:00 A member of the team will be in contact for full pre-payment, to be paid 7 days after booking was made. If payment is not received your booking will automatically be released. All payments are non-refundable & non-transferrable. Note - a discretionary service charge of 12.5% will be added to your final bill on the day.

We were warmly greeted and shown to a lovely table. Unfortunately that was the only real service that was offered. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived with 2-3 other tables. It quickly filled up. It took c. 20 minutes before someone asked of we wanted water. And then another 30 minutes for main courses to arrive. The food was pleasant, but query the portion sizes which were modest for price. Dessert took another 25 minutes to arrive and unfortunately one of our guests had to leave beforehand. The restaurant acknowledged this, and adjusted the bill accordingly. All in all a pleasant enough experience, and despite delays, we would return to give them another opportunity to redeem themselves.

Promoted heavily by OpenTable which was a surprise, the food was ok but the menu not exactly lavish nor focused, service was marginal with glasses left on the table, no water nor check-ins. It felt very much a restaurant attached to a hotel as an afterthought as opposed to the more unique ones that are seen elsewhere. Won't be coming back and won't be recommending.

Sadly service too slow, not very attentive. Out of 6 meals ordered 2 turned up cold. Shame as restaurant has potential to be great. Will not be returning in a hurry

Took clients. Couldn't get attention of waiting staff to get proper cutlery to serve out meal. Wine wasn't topped up at all throughout the meal it took ages to request further glasses at the end of the meal, no one asked if we wanted more. The Lampery Fish pie was tiny and very dry. No one came to ask if we wanted dessert or coffees. Would not go again

We were hoping to be able to partake in the advertised “Festive Menu” however it was not available. Service was very good. Food was tasty but a bit overcooked. Guinea fowl was very dry and slow cooked lamb shoulder was overdone.
