Nameless Writers Salon

The Nameless Writers Salon is a curated salon style event with rotating hosts & themes set on a monthly basis in the Sound View Greenport Library. One Thursday evening of every month, literary aficionados, the culturally curious, & frankly anyone who is interested can come and listen to writers of all genres & styles. Our rotating host will pick a theme and curate up to 5 readers for each event. The Halyard restaurant offers food and beverages for purchase during the event. There is also a short intermission with some giveaways to keep the crowd on their toes. In traditional salon style guests are seated with others they may or may not know (don’t worry parties are kept together.) We encourage discussion and making new friends.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Halyard. We ordered several appetizers which consisted of calamari, squid, clams and the ricotta with honey. All of our appetizers were delicious. Compliments to the chef. We then ordered the chicken, short ribs and bolognese. All of our meals were so delicious. The short ribs were perfect for a chilly January evening. All of us were pretty full, but decided to try the desserts. Definitely worth saving room for dessert. The espresso creme brûlée is probably the best brûlée we have ever had. We also had the banana ice cream dessert which was fantastic. Definitely put this restaurant on your trip out east.

The view is spectacular and the ambiance is lovely. Upon entering, hostess was lukewarm. Food is super flavorful but VERY small portions. Our waitress was very sweet but service is slow. In my opinion, not worth the money although I’m glad we tried it.

The food was very good (particularly the appetizers) but the service was shockingly subpar. Paying high end prices comes with the expectation that service will be excellent, and they really missed the ball here. $80 steak came out without steak knives and the sides came out when we were nearly done with the meal. Dessert came out with no spoons. Coffee came out cold (twice). Just a few examples. There was no flow and things came out very staggered and awkwardly. Waitress was inattentive. I could go on.

NYE food came out cold. Service was horrible, took forever to get each of our drink orders. I contacted the restaurant and they never replied.

Unexpectedly brought our kids for the weekend. For a place that seemed to have lots of kids the service was super slow. Our first round of drink were quick but the second took 20mins. Kids food came and a bit later ours did too. The lobster was good but the sides were sad. We are on the North Fork, make it happen kids! Dessert was nice, cookies were great! Espresso crème brûlée also great! Dessert saved us.

Super disappointed in our dining experience at the Halyard. Our appetizers - the tuna tartare and whipped ricotta - were under seasoned. The main course wagyu steak was served cold - same as our side of broccoli rabe. The only highlight of the meal were the French fries.
