El The George Public House es la reencarnación victoriana de una cafetería del siglo XV. Está situado en la esquina de Strand con Fleet Street, justo en frente de la espectacular arquitectura de los Reales Tribunales de Justicia y a 10 minutos a pie del West End. En otoño de 2014, el The George se sometió a una reforma amplia y considerable de la planta baja y del salón comedor de la 1ª planta. Con esta reforma, se consiguió un restaurante elegante y sofisticado: The Pig and Goose en el The George y el salón comedor privado Horace Walpole. Se han conservado los elementos originales de este pub histórico y se han añadido elementos propios elegantes sin perder el aire tradicional de todo el establecimiento. El nuevo restaurante Pig & Goose, en la planta alta del The George, abre de lunes a sábado y sirve un menú de platillos británicos modernos que se elaboran con los mejores productos de temporada de origen local. Junto al restaurante Pig & Goose se encuentra el exclusivo salón comedor privado Horacio Walpole, que goza de unas vistas impresionantes.

Very happy with the venue and the staff. Service was very efficient and friendly. Only one issue. I had pie for the main course. It came in a dish with a flaky pastry top. That’s not a pie where I come from. A pie should have shortcrust pastry all round! It was very tasty though, so shouldn’t grumble too much.

The first and second courses were very good but the pudding was frozen So not good to eat

The whipped Stilton starter, scallops appetizer, and venison main course were all terrific! Best meal I have had in quite a long time, and best pub food in London. Upstairs dining room (with its own bar) is cozy and comfortable. Friendly staff, nice wine selection, and prompt service. I look forward to my next visit!

Excellent, friendly and helpful service. The Sunday roast menu was comprehensive and the food was well presented and of high quality. The wine list was extensive with interesting varieties on offer. The charges are on the high side but in accordance with what now appears to be the norm in London. We enjoyed our meal and visit very much. The bill was chargeable on card only and included an already charged service charge of 12.5 %. We would have preferred to have left a discretionary amount in cash directly for the excellent waiter who served us so well.

We were made very welcome. It was new Year's Eve so understandably busy but the upstairs dining area was running smoothly.the food was well presented and delicious. The steak was cooked exactly how my husband ordered , and he was very complimentary. We will be sure to return to this lovely pub

50% of the dishes were not available, including all of the vegetarian starters. The only veg main option available was pretty terrible. The desserts were also very poor.
