The Fox is a traditional 17th century Cotswold inn, next to the River Windrush, offering accommodation and delicious homemade seasonal dishes. The pub was taken over in early 2022 by the team behind The Angel at Burford who look forward to welcoming you.

    A really beautiful country pub with a Beautiful restaurant overlooking the local river. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very professional, approachable and friendly. I would highly recommend booking a table for Sunday Lunch and will absolutely be booking a table again in the near future.

    We are a group of six elderly walkers who visit a different cotswold pub every week. We were very late for our table booking but it was not a problem for the staff who accommodated us without any fuss. We all had a different menu choice yet all agreed the food was excellent and with generous portions. All the beer drinkers were satisfied including the two Guinness drinkers. Great value for money.

    Excellent lunch at the Fox, one of the best meals we’ve ever had, lovely flavours, beautifully cooked. Very friendly service, with relaxed and cosy dining area. Good beer.

    Food choices not great. Wrong specials advertised, Lasagne was just in a 4" ramakin, no chips or salad with it for £20! Carrots do not belong in a lasagne- was like it was a cottage pie mix with some pasta sheets added. No salad or garnish with a £20 burger.. Dessert menu was limited- went to mcdonalds for a ice cream on the way home!

    Lovely staff who were kind, considerate and friendly. I took my 93 year old father out to lunch and they were great with him. Food was fabulous. I had steak & my 93 year old father had trout. Both delicious. It is an old pub with lovely character. Very nicely kept & clearly under good management. Fabulous too to have a fire burning on a chilly March day👌

    We’d stayed at the Fox and eaten in the pub on a previous occasion. We were really impressed by the accommodation, the friendliness of the staff and the food and I wrote a five star review. So it was a natural choice when we met with family for a special occasion lunch last week, even though it meant a two hour drive for us. Imagine then my disappointment when my lunch was placed in front of me. I small slice of … Trout? Grandly described as fresh river trout, it looked no different from the slice of trout I get in a plastic pack from the supermarket, two for £6. Over-cooked, dry and completely without flavour, served in a thin, insipid sauce and accompanied by two boiled potatoes, one of which was undercooked. That’s it. £21. Not the worst meal I’ve ever eaten but in the running for the title. All part of the silly trend for empty plate, minimalist food. I would have sent it straight back but didn’t want to spoil the occasion. Too many chefs depend on customers in that position not complaining, I’m afraid. I’m embarrassed that I’d previously recommended the Fox to so many people.
