The Michelin Starred, Fordwich Arms, located in the smallest town in England, dates as far back as 1828. Draped in ivory and wisteria in the most picturesque location over looking the Great River Stour, the perfect setting for an idyllic summers lunch. Boasting open fireplaces for the colder winter months, creating a cosy and welcoming ambiance.
Daniel and Natasha Smith took over The Fordwich Arms in 2017 and were awarded a Michelin Star within the first year, as well as being in the top 100 gastro pubs in the UK, multiple culinary awards, notable wine awards and various other accredits, a testament to their hair work and talent.
The seasonal menus focus on provenance, showcasing the best of local Kentish ingredients, sourced directly from local farms and producers. Dan's cooking is accomplished yet approachable, served in a relaxed pub environment with a choice of a la carte or tasting menus.

Had a really enjoyable tasting menu today at The Fordwich Arms. We knew it was going to be an enjoyable experience when our table was located next to a traditional log fire - much appreciated on such a cold day. The food was scrumptious and it was soon apparent why Fordwich has its Michelin star. I really liked all of the food but was torn between the quail and the monkfish when I was endeavouring to rank my favourite dish. The dessert was typically decadent with a subtle ice cream confection that purposely resembled a Snickers. How did they know that I love Snickers? Since I was the designated driver, it was my partner who had the paired wines. Each wine was accompanied by a detailed description from the sommelier whose knowledge of each wine was so instructive that I almost started to make notes. All of the staff were extremely attentive and good-humoured. Thank you all for making my partner’s birthday such a special day.

Cracking meal with stunning food and excellent service. Had there been a few more logs on the fire it would have been perfect.

An outstanding lunch. The set menu offers incredible value without compromising on the produce on offer. Attentive yet unobtrusive service. Perfect.

I have quite specific needs in relation to what I eat however nothing was too much trouble. Each mouthful was a taste explosion, wow what a talented chef!

It’s our favourite restaurant , and the food was as ever sublime . Service was attentive but I felt a little rushed today . Also the room was chilly today , so we weren’t inclined to linger. We will come back , but I’ve enjoyed other meals at the Fordwich more .
