Food was amazing!! Calamari appetizer was Awesome! Blackened Salmon was a 10+! Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup was Amazing! French Dip was Perfect! And the special Chicken Marsala was incredible! The drinks are stunning with my recommendation of the barrel-aged Manhattan being my personal favorite! Try that special bourbon flight, if available. It was incredibly enjoyable! Service was top notch! I love this place and it’s got my highest recommendation when I’m anywhere near San Pedro in San Jose!

This has nothing to do with the service, our server was amazing!! This review is solely about the food. The food was bland, my steak had no salt. My drink had more salt than the steak. The mac and cheese was chalky and dry, same with the brisket.

We brought a group of 8 here for a business dinner and unfortunately it was average at best. It was incredibly loud, to the point where we couldn't hear each other at our own table. In fairness, the table next to us was obnoxiously loud. Service was good but food was not great. 4 of us ordered beef brisket and it was so fatty none of us could eat most of ours, sides we're not very good - mac and cheese and baked beans (more like a bean soup). Others had various dishes and the one stand out was the fried chicken. With so many other options in the area, I wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

I've been to The Farmers Union a few times, and it is OK. The service is OK, the ambiance is OK, and the food is fair. Our party of 4 was there for brunch before the theater, and we thought the food was OK. Two had Farmer Breakfasts, one had Avocado Toast, one had the grilled cheese sandwich and soup. I think the Avocado Toast diner liked her meal the best. The rest of us left some food on our plates - the hash browns were not great, and the bacon was really well done. The main reason we return to The Farmers Union is because it is pretty convenient (about 4 blocks) from the SJ Center for the Performing Arts. The four meals came to around $100, so the cost is OK, too.

Strangely, when making the reservation they ask for a seating preference, and then didn't honor that. No big deal, but just really weird... should have known it was a sign. We were seated, and sat at at the table for 30 minutes without a server coming by the table, or even making eye contact. So we left - not sure they even noticed that we left. I had gone to the restaurant before for lunch, and felt that the food was mediocre and expensive. Tried to give it a second shot for dinner, and unfortunately they doubled down with terrible service. Avoid this place - there are a lot of options in the area that are happy to have customers.
