   Just another nice evening had in a friendly place, with great staff and eating delicious food - hard to fault anything so I won’t.

   Service was very good friendly staff provided information about soup as we sat which is always helpful Food was lovely only downside was it was a little on the cold side But it won't stop us going back

   Great tasting, well presented food, but the service was slow at the time of the meal, which was the only thing disappointing. We loved the views from the restaurant area upstairs.

   We really enjoyed our visit to the crossed keys, we were staying in the area for the new year, and knew we wanted to go out for food early evening, I googled nice pubs in the area and this pub came up The service was ok just a little slow but it was quite busy so we were ok with this. The food came out after a short wait, it all looked lovely , we had the Sunday roast menu, it could have been a little warmer as some of the food was definitely not hot but it tasted good so again we thought it ok. Desserts were very tasty

   Festive roast beef for two was excellent. Christmas pudding with sauce was very good. The trifle would have been better avoided. The topping was cream with pink sprinkles better suited to a children’s menu. The cream had a synthetic taste. The next layer was a rubbery red jelly. The base was a large amount of very dry sponge cake. I suspect it hadn’t seen a teaspoonful of sherry let alone the large quantity the menu suggested it would have. I declined to pay for this dessert. We would however return to the Cross Keys for another main course.

    Meeting family halfway this was the first time we have been to the Cross Keys, Carleton near Penrith. And what a great place from the welcome in the bar right through to the chat we had after paying the bill. It was Sunday lunch so we kinda knew what to expect, but it was better than we expected. Enough variety on the menu and lovely tasty hot great quality food all round. All the team were very very welcoming, pleasant and attentive. The service was great, thanks team you should be proud! Cannot recommend the Cross Keys , Carleton near Penrith enough and would definitely go there again.
