The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.

Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.

We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.

Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

Great Sunday lunch the lamb was delicious. Plenty of friendly staff making sure everything was ok. Definitely worth a visit

The food was exquisite, the staff so polite and informative as usual. Two of our party were gluten-intolerant and the choice of mains (didn’t have starters) was very good. It was lovely to have a gluten- free desert that was other than ice-cream and I had the orange tart which was exceptional. Only downside was the thumping music from a private function wasn’t great for fine dining.

Very attractive restaurant.Excellent staff and good service. Tasty food but dessert-ice cream-was disappointing ie not great vanilla flavour.

Valentine's day lunch. Overall enjoyable. Twice baked cheese soufflé excellent. My main course of pan seared liver was let down by poor preparation of one of the pieces of liver ( chewy sinewy bits left in). Husband's venison pie with red cabbage very good Lovely staff. Candles and roses on the table.

Very disappointed with some of our meals. The chicken and Broccoli main meal lacked any flavour and in my opinion didn't show any culinary expertise. The bread served in-between courses was lovely but the butter too rock hard to spread. The cheese soufflé was more like scrambled egg and had been re heated so much that i had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down or it would have burnt my mouth. I never usually turn down the opportunity to have a dessert but none of the 3 choices excited me and i felt again didn't demonstrate any creativity. We didn't mention anything to the waiter at our table as we were so close to other tables we didn't want to spoil other peoples evenings. Every aspect of our visit was excellent. The staff were all very efficient and attentive. Everyone enjoyed the food immensely. This was our first visit and certainly we book again when in the area. Highly recommended.
