The Chequers se unió a la colección de pubs Peach en junio de 2013. Peach es un grupo independiente de gastropubs con más de 10 años de experiencia. Su objetivo es hacer de sus pubs espacios únicos, con carácter, lugares excelentes para comer, beber y dormir. A beautiful lunch, every course was extremely enjoyable . My father in law reckoned the steak and ale pie the best he’d had in years. My lentil and squash warm salad with fillet was to die for. This is our third visit and certainly won’t be the last.

Food was excellent. We ordered from the Christmas menu, the steak medallions with peppercorn sauce and chips, and the harissa spiced chickpeas with winter vegetables. Both mains were excellent. The restaurant staff were friendly and service was excellent. Would recommend!

The service given was friendly and welcoming. Food excellent. The menu choices were wide ranging so we look forward to our next visit to try other items on the menu. Good value for money

We all had the roast dinner, with different people choosing pork, beef and gammon. Mostly it was delicious but the crackling was awful and I am sure it didn’t come from the same supplier as the pork. It was more like insulation material than crackling - tasteless, tough not crunchy, not salted, and with no scoring or layer of fat. The crumble was not great either, really watery at the bottom of the bowl. We then had a problem with the bill, as apparently the person serving us had forgotten to use the right codes. Mistakes happen but it’s all about how things are handled. No-one was the least bit interested in the problems with the crackling and although they corrected the bill there was no apology. Overall it could be great if the front of house team were better trained.
