The Broughton Inn in Preston is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

For over 150 years this proud building has stood in the heart of historic Broughton, some 3 miles north of busy Preston. Enjoying a prominent spot on the corner of one of the town's main junctions, it's a classic pub full of history and character. Broughton itself dates back to the Doomsday book and is home to the oldest primary school in the country, as well as a fine old parish church with a steeple dating all the way back to 1533.

Preston is just 3 miles away too, so you're just up the road from great shopping, a football match at Preston North End or master paintings at the Harris Art Gallery.

    Food cold service bad . Staff swearing. Very bad experience . only 2 of us in restaurant and given darkest pokiest table, I asked to be moved to a table where I could see what I was eating an was told they were fully booked! ! 10 people on total when we left. What a joke .....not

    Food was very good, however disappointed that we couldn’t use our OpenTable cheque. This is not the staffs fault however the restaurant is not on the list of excluded restaurants so it was annoyed by that we could not use it. I had also added a note to the booking as recommended by opentable stating that I would be using the cheque as part payment. The pub was also quite cold and by a fireplace there was a sign saying to ask staff to light the fire if you’re cold, but we were just told they can’t.

    The Broughton Inn is a pleasant chain-owned pub with traditional wood beam interior - the type you would expect in a rural historic building that is over 150 years old. We visited for a pre- Mothers Day meal with my parents and as they are in their eighties it was good to see that access was easy for them. One thing that they commented on was that parking was difficult as there were a lot of commercial vans taking up car parking space and they struggled to find somewhere to park. The food was very good and certainly good value for money. The waitress that served us was pleasant and attentive. The only criticism that we all agreed on was that the ambient music was a bit too loud. I am sure it didn't bother the other guests but for us it made conversational a little difficult as my parents are both a bit hard of hearing. That apart I would certainly recommend giving the Broughton Inn a visit.

    Main courses were very nice. Disappointed that you were unable to order a mini dessert without a hot drink as we have been able to do this at other Vintage Inns. When informed that this wasn't an option the waitress immediately asked if we wanted the bill giving the impression that as we weren't ordering a dessert they didn't wish us to stay, even though the place wasn't busy. She did the same with another couple. Surprised as places usually wait until asked for the bill.

    As a last minute booking on New Year's Eve we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. Well worth the visit and good value for money, can recommend and would return again. The only downside is that there perhaps in need of some refreshing of decor and furnishings. Other than that we had a good evening.

    I went dinner for my birthday and I have a brilliant evening. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the lamb duo.
