We had never been to Black Pearl. We had a wonderful meal with very attentive service. We enjoyed the entire experience.

A great experience overall. Would highly recommend. I am against the 20% surcharge but I understand the idea / reason. They filter out the trash so you will not see Crocs and Wife beaters with spaghetti stains. In the words of Tony Soprano, " Take your hat off, they don't serve hot dogs here . . . . they took the bleachers out 2 years ago". It is so hard to find classy places anymore, everywhere is cluttered with trashy people that look like they came from a night club or Golden Corral, if you enjoy fine dining and want to have a classy / romantic date, eat here.

We were offered champagne to begin our evening. One glass per person was poured from a bottle which was uncorked table side. No refill was offered and the bottle was taken away to the wine station. When the check was presented at the end of the meal we noticed a charge of $25.00/glass………maybe this cost might have been mentioned up front. This won’t stop us from returning but I’ll be a little more savvy. The food and service were outstanding!!

The food is fantastic. It's a true fine dinning experience. The sommelier always gives a perfect pairing.

This was a more expensive dinner but for special occasions or just a treat night out this was well worth it. The food was savory and sweet and cooked to perfection. I don't think there could be a bad choice on the menu. The intimate dining provided a serene ambiance for our energetic group to take a step back and really enjoy one another in conversation. We were a table of 6 and the service was exemplary. This happened to be a work gathering, but I know those of us in state will be returning another time.

We found our service rushed (we sat down and ordered two glasses of champagne. Within a minute or so a server brought out appetizers. I had a chance to only have two sips. I asked him to take it back, which he did. A minute or two later he arrived with our bread course - we just wanted to enjoy our glass of expensive champagne) and the quality of food far below typical quality. Everything was over seasoned and not the delicately balanced flavors we typically experienced. Very 'heavy-handed' food preparation from the overly limed ceviche to the very overly sweet salad dressing to the sea bass which was saturated with salt and cheese. Typically we have had this same meal and it has been spectacular. On a positive note, the wine service was very patient with us. It was definitely not worth the money spent.

Once again we had an amazing experience dining at The Black Pearl in Dunedin. It is the epitome of fine dining. The food is always outstanding and the staff is superb. They really share their knowledge of the dishes so you can make the best decision for you!
