Chef Teiichi Sakurai, well-known as the founder of Teppo (1995) and Tei Tei (1998), opened Tei-An in 2008 at One Arts Plaza. Chef Sakurai continues the pursuit of introducing authentic Japanese culinary culture to Dallas through ancient techniques and years of mastering the fragile and sophisticated soba noodle.
Called "The crown jewel of Japanese dining in Dallas" by former Dallas Morning News restaurant critic Leslie Brenner, Tei-An continues to induct diners into the art of dining at a traditional, yet modern, Japanese soba noodle house.

Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Tokyo-born chef Teiichi Sakurai helped introduce Japanese food and culture to Dallas starting in the '90s before opening this celebrated soba house in 2008. The intimate omakase counter surrounds a rock garden at the center, creating a shrine-like, very-Tokyo atmosphere for wagyu, sashimi, and other traditional Japanese fare. One thing's for sure: every meal from this six-time James Beard semifinalist must end with soba.

    We started off great with our Omasake. We told the hostess and our waiters that we had to leave at a specific time for a show. We all agreed that 1.75 hours was plenty of time and was assured it was no problem. The food was very good. Some courses were excellent. But the service literally disappeared after our last course. We received spoons for dessert, which never arrived. By now we were 10 minutes after our stated departure time (we had a show to see). I asked the hostess about dessert. To her credit, she ran off to check immediately. But still no one came. Someone stopped by and asked us if we wanted our dessert boxed up. We were going to the theater so that wasn’t an option. Besides, take out isn’t part of the experience we paid for ($375 for 2, inclusive of service charge). I Ieventually got the bill for our water and tea. They took my card. And we waited. And waited…… Eventually our waiter reappeared and apologized. To their credit they comped the water and tea. They offered to have dessert for us after the show, but that wasn’t a realistic option for us. So ask me about dessert. Can’t say. Never saw it. I’ve had Omasake experiences around the world, including many in Tokyo (Narisawa was amazing). I can honestly say this was the worst service I’ve experienced at any restaurant in a long time. It’s especially disappointing since the Japanese people are justifiably proud of their long tradition in cuisine and hospitality.

    We celebrated my fiancé's birthday at Tei-An and had a phenomenal experience. We were so well taken care of and my fiancé felt so special. The quality of food and service was exceptional and the ambience was so perfect. Even though we were seated in the middle at the omakase bar, it felt so intimate and still like we were in our own little bubble. 10 stars! Food was delicious and we loved every second. The middle spot at the bar was perfect and we loved being able to see the entire restaurant fill up around us. Would do it again time and time again!

    We visited this restaurant for a New Year’s dinner and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. They offer a wide selection of foods and beverages. We particularly loved the premium chef’s sushi selection and the udon noodles, both of which were fantastic. You can choose to make this a more expensive meal for an upscale date night, or opt for more affordable options. We will definitely be back!

    It’s always been good night out here at Tei-an, all the food here is so phenomenal. If you understand the culture, you understand the value Tei-an has offered, especially here in Dallas

    Overall it was a nice experience. Food was good and well priced. Didn’t fall off my chair from the flavors, wasn’t exciting. I also didn’t like that they were doing last call for the kitchen at 9:24 (on a Saturday night) when I just sat down at 9, practically rushed to order everything in advance.
