Tavernonna celebrates the rich, varied history of Italian food, wine, and cocktails by using fresh, simple ingredients to create both traditional and contemporary dishes that entice the senses. Sourcing ingredients from local farms and vendors, and creates fresh pasta from scratch to be showcased throughout the menu, giving the restaurant a clear sense of its locality while honoring the distinctive ingredients rooted in Italy.

The staples of every Tavernonna dish embody ambition, passion, heritage, creativity, style, and inspirational local culture and knowledge. Restaurant and hotel guests can anticipate playful dishes such as spaghetti all’amatriciana, brisket meatballs with black currants and roman gnocchi and house-made ravioli with goat cheese, tomato fondutta, and mint pesto.

Valet parking is validated at Hotel Phillips for up to 2 hours for all Tavernonna patrons.

I was expecting exceptional, and received Denny’s style service. My water glass was empty, but another waiter that had a table next to us near the 12th street window didn’t even offer to fill my water glass after filling the table next to us. Our waiter James never asked my wife if she wanted another glass of wine. I had to ask for a refill of water. We had to ask about the menu selections and our waiter never seemed to be engaged with us. When you drop $210.00 dollars for two for mediocre food, I would expect a little more engagement from our server. We went to the Bar at the Marriott next door and had better conversation and interaction with Andrew the bar tender then we did with our server. By the way, what Italian restaurant doesn’t server bread with pasta, none in Italy. I won’t be returning. It just seems that being engaged as a server is out the window, it’s more of a”Hi, what do you want, here’s your bill, get out. I get better service at Coach’s in OP, KS and it’s only $60.00 with tip for two. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this is not an ordinary restaurant and not cheap, I expected better service. What gets me, is that no one from the restaurant even comments about the reviews.

This is a pitiful menu, a small step above a bar car menu on Amtrak. The chicken Caesar wrap was acceptable but not particularly appetizing. No one else was in the restaurant and it felt cold and dark and uninviting. Our Dr er was very nice and attentive but then we were her only customers for over an hour after noon. The hotel it’s attached to has a street buzzer to let you in. Bad news for downtown KC.

There was practically zero staff working. The manager did as well as he could to keep people served but this isn’t a serious restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and the main ingredient was salt. Skip it and go somewhere else.

I am unsure if they were short-staffed, but the service was prolonged and delayed. The food was exceptional, cocktails were delicious and the overall ambiance was gorgeous.

I have had service issues in the past but this experience was the worst. Lack of servers required the bartender to wait on tables (which I've noticed previously) with help from the hostess who obviously had no experience with this job). Long delay receiving food (was an issue as I had a performance to attend) and when it was delivered, one of the entrees was incorrect. Not enough time to rectify the situation so I missed dinner. Despite expressing concerns, we received only an apology from the bartender and told to reach out to management after the fact. An email was sent to management team the following day but have not received a response. No plans to return unless there is a change in management and attitude.

This was our first experience with Tavernonna and we were out on a date night. The food was amazing and we would definitely return!

Food good, service very good. Took in excess of 30 minutes from the time the order was placed until served. Ordered pizza with white sauce, it came with red sauce.

We enjoyed a nice, leisurely meal before a show at the Folly Theater. The chicken parm was very good. The tiramisu was excellent! The servers were charming, and the service was efficient. We will definitely return.
