Tarantelli’s is located on Second Street, just one block from Front Street and in walking distance to the Cape Fear River. The restaurant and event venue is located in the historic district of downtown Wilmington. This lively area spans 230-plus blocks and is home to some of the best bars, restaurants, churches, architecture, and selection of fine art. There are several parking facilities nearby, but you can also reach Tarantelli's year round via horse drawn trolley and carriage, river taxi, trolley cars, or on foot.

    The inspiration behind this restaurant was drawn from our grandfather, Anthony "Tony" Salvatore Tarantelli ("Papa") and our grandmother Mabel Tarantelli. Both Tony and Mabel believed that home cooked food brought family together. Our Papa's love for Italian food came from his father, Salvatore Tarantelli, who was born in the Abruzzo region of Italy in the province of L’Aquila. It is here that Tony began to appreciate Italian cuisine at its purest. Both Tony and Mabel were amazing cooks and deserve the credit for passing on many of our family recipes that we now have the pleasure and privilege to share with you.

    Food and service was very good, only gripe was the food could use a bit more salt as the flavor was good but not quite strong enough.

    Great experience as always! The food is delicious. I’ve ordered something different on each visit and it’s always amazing! Only weird thing I noticed is how particular they are about seating you right at your reservation time. We always show up 5-10 minutes early and even when there are plenty of tables ready, they wait to seat us until the exact rezo time on the dot. So typically there are 4-5 parties standing in the foyer with the same rezo time waiting. Interesting they won’t seat people even a couple minutes early. Doesn’t impact my review but just something funny I have noticed each time we dine there.

    Excellent meal and service. Four of us dined and we had both of the specials that were offered - halibut and raviolis with lobster medallions. They were delicious. This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Wilmington.

    This was our first time dining. When a place markets itself as high-end, the service, food, and presentation should all reflect that especially with a waitlist involved. Our overall experience didn’t quite match the expectations for a high-end date night spot. The Seafood pasta with homemade pasta being undercooked and cold is definitely disappointing, especially given the price and reputation. We also tried the Penne Vodka which was good but nothing extraordinary. We also felt the plates that food was being served on was not overall high end. The service also seemed to be a letdown - although spacing between tables was nicely considerate with ample privacy for couples - staff professionalism and waitstaff customer service was unfortunate to add to the experience.

    Service was great and food was great, filet mignon bruschetta appetizer was awesome - - we enjoyed our meal very much. Noise level was a little higher than I prefer, but they seated us by the entrance way which likely contributed to that.

    Valentines dinner…you’d expect some challenges given the holiday, but there were none. Food was fantastic and the service was great…attentive but not overbearing. Tarantelli’s is easily top 3 best restaurants in Wilmington.
