Takumi welcomes you inside the Omakase Room, to our traditional sushi counter where you will enjoy a Chef curated, eight course Omakase dinner. Sit back and relax as we take you on a two hour journey of fresh, exquisite flavor from the world's best purveyors. Features only 7 seats at the sushi counter in front of our skilled chef, and one 4 seat table. 8 COURSES (17 DISHES) SAKE PAIRING OPTION, FULL DRINK MENU SECRET ADD-ON MENU ALLERGIES must be made known ahead of time. We’re able to accommodate 1-2 specific shellfish allergies, but we are unable to accommodate customers that are allergic to ALL bivalves/crustaceans, severe gluten intolerance, kosher, or vegetarian. NO-SHOWS will be charged the full price of the dinner ($160).

A brilliant omakase meal, with an engaging chef. All 8 courses were memorable, with particularly clean nigiri flavors that belied their complexity. The sake pairings highlighted a range of sakes of different character that matched and accentuated the dishes extremely well. The tempura uni dish one can add to the meal is not to be missed, a highly memorable preparation.

VOTED BEST SUSHI IN MAUI! Omakase dinner is top notch, we’re locals and live nearby thus our favourite small excellent restaurant by far, we do takeout as well and it’s the bomb

Incredible service and presentation in a intimate setting worth every penny. One of if not the best meals I have ever had. Would highly recommend and would most certainly do again when in Maui without question.

What a special find! We had an outstanding meal and experience. This is the best sushi we have had in a long time, and we reside in a sushi city. The chef is not only talented, but he is also friendly and personable and answered any questions we had. He served fish we'd never had from Hawaii, Spain, and Japan. The staff was attentive as well. We will definitely be back for this personalized and special experience.

A truly exquisite Omakase -- prepared with incredible delicacy by Chef Eima Yamada! We were excited to try a new restaurant on the Westside which was getting RAVE reviews from locals. It took us awhile to secure a Friday night reservation, but it was definitely worth the wait. Probably the tastiest and freshest fish I have ever had in my entire life. Definitely felt like you were dining in Tokyo!

It was an amazing experience. 99.9% of the ingredients were from Japan and the rest was from Hawaii. Only 7 seats at bar counter and one table for 4 people. We were served by the chef one at a time. Menu was “Omakase” which was chef’s choice. So you make sure you might be experiencing something new. Other staffs helping us were so friendly and professional. It was our son’s 24 year old birthday dinner. We couldn’t have better dinner than this. We can’t wait to go back again.

Takumi Sushi is a new sushi restaurant in Kaanapali that is truly outstanding. This review will focus on Takumi’s omakase offering, but the restaurant also offers a less expensive patio dining option featuring a range of a la carte nigiri and roll choices or combos, as well as a tempura combo. All of the patio options can also be ordered as takeout, along with a 40 or 60 piece sushi platter. Any of their sushi is top notch and reasonably priced ($30-60 for a meal) given the top quality. The 17 dish omakase course is absolutely world class. (Takumi’s $160 omakase is as good as much more expensive omakase dinners that my Japanese wife and I have had in Japan and California). There is presently only one omakase seating per night for the 7 sushi counter seats and one 4 person table. Reservations on their website. Chef Yamada is very friendly and explains each item that he has chosen for the evening in fluent English and Japanese. The omakase course has a few traditional items such as pickled vegetables, chawanmushi, grilled fish and tender octopus (which I usually hate but was delectable). But the star of the evening was, of course, THE SUSHI. Chef Yamada prepared about 10 delicately seasoned nigiri sushi, most of them exotic cuts of fish that you won’t see in your typical sushi restaurant, except the tuna which was the best of thousands of maguro that I’ve eaten in my life — just melt-in-your mouth, savory delicious! The fish are mostly flown in that day from Japan, though the marvelous sweet shrimp (amaebi) came from Molokai. The last sushi item was a delightful hand roll containing toro and crunchy takuwan radish pickles). Yes, $160 is not cheap for a dinner, but you will feel that you got full value for a very memorable sushi experience that may be the best of your life.

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Everyone was super friendly, the chef was amazing, HUGE FAN. The secret menu items put us over the edge in the BEST WAY. Definitely worth the splurge and will be returning for other celebrations. I had issues with OT changing my reservation on the app, but whoever was helping me via IG messages was so kind and assured me (multiple times) that everything was correct on their end. I cannot wait to come back!!!
