Located at the famed Opera Terrace atop the historic Grade II-listed Market Building, this striking space is a vibrant new addition to the area. Crowned by an Eric Parry-designed glass roof, the restaurant runs along the entire east side of the market making for beautiful rooftop views across the piazza.

Bold in design, SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden offers a host of inviting dining and drinking experiences: from the bar with its ‘living ceiling’; the exposed kitchen to the terrace overlooking the square below and the private dining room with its own entrance and terrace.

Went for the pre-theatre menu. It had great ambience and the food was great. The service staff seemed disorganized - I got the wrong food and drink delivered to my table multiple times through the meal and it took a really long time to get a servers attention, which was not great when I had a show to get to. Lastly, the bill came and I was astonished how much it was for a few small plates and a glass of wine. Not worth it in my opinion, even if the food is good.

We had a lovely 3 course pre-theatre meal each and shared each course choice between us so lots of variety in an upbeat lively ambience. The teriyaki poussin with pomegranate was my mother’s favourite and I enjoyed the edamame in salt and lime and the tempura beans with truffle mayo dip as extra starters as well as the Peruvian Corn which was a delicious on the side of one of the dishes and first time experienced. The Espresso martinis were good although a little shy on the glass being filled. Bianca our server was really friendly, and cheerful but professional and helpful. She even arranged for my mother’s dessert to be served in recognition of it being her birthday celebration meal out.

We had 2 beers, mostly snacks, some sushi and one main course, we paid an average of £85 per head (a family of 4). I understand cost of life has gone up but this is pretty ridiculous and absolutely unjustified. Also 14% service charge?? It was meant to be a special occasion taking the kids out during half term, it turned out to be a sour ending.

Staff are unhelpful, dismissive and rude - I had made a booking for 6 but it showed up on their system at 4 so they initially was not going seat us saying we missed our slot. Despite me showing evidence and having already paid £40 they just about said they’d seat us at the bar. The two female staff didn’t care and were not helpful despite this clearly being a mistake with their system. It wasn’t until I demanded to speak to the manager that he then understood and seated us properly. Absolutely disgusting service given this was also my first time coming here and how much money was being spent. Please book at your own discretion, I know I never will again.

Covent roll was the best. Enjoyed the Peruvian corn, pork ribs, and the drinks. Pricey but food and service were great
