Sophie’s is an Italian Restaurant situated in Southampton Row – in the heart of Holborn. Open seven days a week, serving lunch, dinner, pre-theatre, and post-theatre. This restaurant is not using Open Table anymore. We were lucky to get a table despite our reservation.

The staff were nice but the quality if the food here isn't good and its pretty expensive. It was a Thursday lunch, we sat outside because the restaurant was empty but its on a main road with lorrys etc driving down so not a pleasant experience.

Excellent food and great service, a great variety of dishes to suit most tastes. If we are in that part of London again we will return

This was a mixed experience. I was looking forward to one of my favourite Italian meals: scaloppine al limone. My partner went for a classic spaghetti bolognese. The veal seemed to be a rather thick cut, and was tough. Thankfully, this was replaced - with an apology - for a chicken cacciatore, which was pretty good. The chef also made a fresh bolognese, rather than simply keeping my husband's meal warm. We almost left, though, at that point, as there were several people coming in - not to eat, but one, very loudly on her phone and chatting with the waiter, followed by a fairly obnoxious man who seemed to be collecting a take-away. We stayed for dessert, which was good - delighted to see that they make zabaglione for only one, which is rare. Overall, service was very good, but the place has all the ambience of a take-away. Don't go if you want to have a conversation with a companion.

Booked a table for two for lunch - after a visit to the British Museum. There was no need for a booking, however, the place was deserted. Waited for few minutes for the waitress who was behind the bar, to come over but she completely ignored us, so we went over to ask for a table. Her whole attitude was of one who didn’t want to be there. She did, however, improve over the course of our meal. The food was good - tiger prawns, lasagne and penne Arabiata. Portions were large. No wine list to does off - rather genetic - but a bottle of Soave went down well.

Mediocre ouput in relation to price, salmon like expensive fish and chips. Strangely watery tiramisu.

Friendly reliable and reasonably priced, Sophie’s has a fairly standard but comfortably done menu.

Difficult to be understood “do you have gluten free.....” took a while to get through. The answer by the way was “no” Standard of food was “ok” but nothing special and certainly not worth the exorbitant prices.
