Welcome to The Sondes Arms

The Sondes Arms, Rockingham, is a 16th Century coaching inn, with amazing views of Rockingham Castle and Church. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, The Sondes Arms offers a delightful Bar and Restaurant ideal for every occasion.

We pride ourselves as a family friendly public house & serve a traditional pub menu of home cooked food. In addition we serve our beautiful home cooked carvery all day Sunday and now Wednesday and Friday evenings along with a great range of lagers, ales and wines

We haven't been here for about 7 years, and I am so glad we did. We chose the festive menu which was a carvery and it was lovely. Enough meat, could have done with 2 pigs in blankets, but all the trimmings and veg were really well presented and tasty.. We were seated by the door, so we got an icy blast every time the door opened, and also on the only round table that was really wonky.. My only gripe is when paying with the card you are asked to add a gratuity starting at 10% ! How about adding 5% too.?

We ordered from the Christmas lunch menu. Two of us are vegetarian and one is vegan, unusually there were plenty options. For the nut roast you get to choose from the carvery veg and it's all clearly labelled. Veggie gravy, roasties, stuffing and loads of other options were available. Deserts were good too, trillionaires tart is vegan and looked delicious. Overall, one of the best veggie Christmas lunches we've had in the area for a while, £22.50 for 2 courses is good value. First time we've been here in years and will definitely return.

We had the Christmas afternoon tea it was really nice apart from the cold sandwiches. The bread was very hard and we can’t. How to keep asking and we waited over 40 minutes again for our afternoon tea to arrive as we had to ask if it’s ready.

Excellent Carvery. Wednesday night has become a trip down to the Sondes for the Carvery. Fabio, Michaela, the Kitchen in its entirety and the serving staff; are an fantastic team.

It was a fantastic meal!!! Had to wait significantly longer than expected but it was a busy place. Thanks and we will be back

Lovely Christmas carvery. Food great but could have done with being warmer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, very happy with the experience.

Very disappointed with our visit last night, the waitress were inattentive, there doesn't seem to be any front of house directing the younger members of staff. Our table had christmas cracker rubbish on the floor which was not picked up during our stay there. Our drinks we had to ask twice for. The general service by the waiting staff was very lacking.

Lovely setting, we seem to be making this an annual event! Food always amazing and service exceptional especially considering the staff serving us are quite young. Very polite and attentive.
