Sol Mar Restaurant & Marisqueira is one of the leading seafood restaurants in New Jersey. It is family operated, opened in 1957, and focused on authentic Portuguese & Mediterranean cuisines. The interior of Sol-Mar is handcrafted as carefully as the menu, as diners are transported across the Atlantic as soon as they walk through the doors thanks to the authentic decor and style of the dining room. It is located just a few blocks from Newark Penn Station, close to Newark International Airport, in the famous neighborhood of Ironbound.
Sol Mar’s menu experience featuring the finest seafood catch from regional coasts and international waters in Portugal and all over the world is showcased at your table. Diners who aren't feeling the taste of seafood can still order other dishes such as grilled porterhouse steak, pork chops in garlic sauce, and chicken marsala. You can enjoy all of Portugal's magnificent atmospheres without leaving the premises.

What has happened to the restaurant we knew and loved? Now mediocre food at high prices in a sterile place! The only thing left is the good service. Won't return

Way too loud! Too many wait staff congregating together and trying to push people out, yet groups added more people just standing around the tabs being extremely loud and rude. Also these people who joined after were taking shots standing and not having a table. We will never be going back. It is the same as it used to be.

The food was absolutely delicious. I had grilled salmon & it was cooked to perfection. It was my son’s 21st birthday and he wanted paella. He was not disappointed! He said it was delicious. The portions were so plentiful. Loved everything from the ambiance to the food. Great attentive service. Thank you!

Outstanding food and service. Liked the ambience . The reason I didn’t give this place a five star was because of the parking situation. Very hard to find a spot and the traffic was a bit too much for me to return
