Smuggler's Inn abrió sus puertas en 1967 y ha servido filete de costilla de Alberta a varias generaciones.         We were sat in the bar for New Years Eve dinner. Ambiance in the bar is lack-luster with too much lighting. Requested the Smugglers Amber beer - out. Asked for a 9 ounce red wine and received a glass of wine filled to the rim - not classy. We were only checked on once by our server, which resulted in the shortest meal I've ever had at a nicer non-chain restaurant (45 min). It was very underwhelming and was not a great New Years Eve experience for myself or my daughter.

        They gave our reservation in the dinning room away to another couple whose name was “similar” they said. They then put us in the bar, a dark raised cubical directly across from bar, awful ambiance. Slow to be served. Had to ask for our wine. Had to ask for horseradish that was to have come with meal. Very disappointing for a New Years Eve celebratory dinner we were looking forward, especially after making reservations weeks before, and answering their many texts of confirmation.

        Smugglers would normally get all 5 stars. However, the day before our reservation we were told they were now doing a fixed menu… gives no choice to go elsewhere at the last minute before New Years Eve, next was having to sit beside a large group with a toddler… didn’t expect to have to spend a special evening out dining beside a toddler ( I love kids but not at finer dining establishments), which leads to the noise level of a squealing child, the food was good as we had prime rib… the starters not so much. I booked for the oyster bar which was not available now with a fixed menu. 5 stars go to our server Marvin, he was attentive even with having to oversee a lot of other tables, friendly, and professional… thank you Marvin for making our night!

        Normally the prime rib is excellent. Last night it was dry not tough but not really enjoyable. As well they had a special menu only. I thought when booking we could order from normal menu. Instead of 38 for prime rib it was 59. In their defense the server asked how it was and I mentioned that it was not great. She offered to replace it and I said it was okay. Guess I only have myself to blame. As we walked out I saw other prime ribs that looked more like what I would have expected.

        Had a great time. Service was excellent. We had the walk the plank. Excellent value for the amount of food. Would feed 3 people with regular appetites. The flavors were excellent. All 5 different meats had distinct and delicious flavor.

        Dined here for Christmas buffet and felt it was way overpriced for what was available. There was barely any turkey served, gravy was tasteless and side dishes were mostly cold. Unfortunate considering it cost $199 for three people.

        Went to the buffet for Christmas eve lunch. Carving food was cold and English muffin was stale. Waitress was very nice but manager wasn't aware of her own cyber Monday special. Staff took my phone multiple times to inspect the gift card instead of the manager coming to the table. Very awkward lunch.

        Such a great atmosphere and high quality food they have! Service is amazing and attendants were friendly and accommodating for the brunch Buffett experience we had :) variety of food sections from omelet station to meat carving station, the dessert buffet was a dream! Highly recommend visiting! 💯💯💯
