Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a Japanese-inspired restaurant using primitive wildfire cooking methods highlighting seasonal ingredients from Japan and the Tahoe region.

Our Executive Chef, Tyler Burges, hails from notable restaurants such as Michael Mina, Angler, and the esteemed Saison and is driven by seasonality and innovation.
Nestled in the breathtaking surroundings of Lake Tahoe, it offers an unforgettable dining experience with views of the open kitchen and wood-burning hearth.

Our bar menu includes all our dishes from the tasting menu. Please note, we allow only parties of 1-2 for this experience. This is a communal area so there are other guests around you. We highly encourage reservations. We do our best to accommodate all dietary needs, however are unable to provide a vegan, or gluten free menu for this experience. We ask that you contact us via email at info.smokedoor@gmail.com within 3 days before your initial reservation date if you have any dietary restrictions, allergies, or aversions. The final check includes a sales tax and a 22% service fee. There is a time limit of two-and-a-half hours. **Please note we do not allow children under the age of 10 within our restaurant**

I surprised my partner with an anniversary and birthday dinner with Smoke Door’s 10 course menu with their reserve pairing. Not only did the food blow our minds, but the service was absolutely outstanding. They made it truly unique for us, and made us feel so incredibly special; we forgot we were at a restaurant, at some point, because everything else faded away. The food was familiar, but just different or “enhanced” enough that you will be thankful they invited you a little out of your comfort zone. It’s expensive — but it should be. You get what you paid for. The knowledge that came with every dish and paired drink was incredible; this has become our new tradition of celebrating life events. We cannot wait to go back. If you’re thinking about it, just book the reservation. The only thing you’ll regret is not doing so sooner.

Smoke Door is the most expensive meal I’ve enjoyed in Tahoe but well worth the splurge! I highly recommend the 6 course tasting menu and start with one of their signature cocktails. Each course is so carefully prepared with the very best ingredients and includes a unique and delicious twist from the Chef. The staff is friendly and not pretentious. Thank you for an exceptional meal. We will be back!!

We went to Smoke Door om a Friday evening and the restaurant was almost full. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we were anticipating a wonderful meal. we were not disappointed. We had the ten course taste menu with the beverage pairing and it was all fantastic. there are other reviews that break down each course in detail so no need to repeat. Hurry and go now. The quality and expertise is evident in every bite and sip. we had an experience. Not simply a meal. This place is a local treasure.

We had an amazing experience at the Smoke Door. I took my wife there for her birthday and they called ahead of the reservation to ensure they knew her name, and had a personalized birthday card waiting for her. We sat at the bar and ordered from the a la carte menu. Every dish was delicious. The service was fantastic. We will absolutely be returning and I highly recommend experiencing this restaurant.

Everything was spectacular. From the moment you walk through the door. Calm and beautiful. The food was exquisite, service was of Michelin star level. The sake menu was two pages long. Only 26 seats. The noise level was high but the food made up for everything

I'd heard that this was the best restaurant in Tahoe so decided to surprise my wife with a dinner there. We chose the 6 course tasting menu and split a wine pairing (which had several sakes and a cocktail as well). The food was fantastic and the courses were spaced out well to create a great dinner event. We loved our server, Sebastian, and the manager, Zack. It's a really great experience for a night up in the mountains.

It was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was packed with very happy customers. The dishes were exquisite and beautifully presented. The avocado toast was a new one to us and it was just divine! We can not wait to go back! Also very impressive is how quietly and efficiently the open kitchen staff worked together. They are a well oiled machine. Servers were very personable and accommodating. Watching the smoking process was also very interesting. This may not be appropriate, but I also enjoyed the heated Toto toilet in the restroom!
