Esser Winery is our house selected winery by the glass representing a wide variety of varietals and quality. Esser is from the Central Coast of California and is certified California Sustainable through its farming practices. They have won numerous accolades and awards from every wine authority out there. Had not visited Sierra Street for some time and enjoyed previous visits. Came in for a light dinner before a Pioneer performance. Not many customers in the restaurant. Ordered a bottle of $39 chard we're not familiar with for the two of us and waiter (only 1 there) had no advice on its taste/quality. Turned out it was a decent wine. Later determined bottle price we paid was almost 4 times retail cost. I realize restaurants need to make a good profit on their liquor sales, but that should be balanced with a customer's perception of value. We all know costs have gone up quite a bit in the restaurant sector making it a challenging sector, but Sierra Kitchen seems a bit pricey for their food, liquor, especially in light of their serving sizes...for food ,for example, the scallop appetizer was $19 for only 2 scallops.... Just one last comment...when we go out to restaurants and pay a premium for our food and service, our expectations are justifiably a bit higher...it was surprising that SK uses some form of plastic dishes and plastic glasses... something you normally find at Denny's....it would have been nice to have real plates and glass glasses...fortunately, the wine glasses were real glass. Was also surprised and disappointed, before I posted this review, when I read some of the owner's responses to reviews like mine...responding negatively to what appeared to be reasonable customer reviews... I can only imagine the review response I'm going to get... We have a small business and customers are a priority...if we get a bad review, we bend over backwards to make it right! We will maybe return to SK at some point in the future, but only when we see their reviews and value/pricing improve...I'm hoping this will happen...I really liked to go there...

Tapas selection was great! We all really enjoyed the tapas including bacon wrapped dates, beet salad, crab cakes, mac & cheese and prime filet tips. Service was also great and after dinner, the chef came out to make sure we all enjoyed our meal. Atmosphere also comfortable. We have gone a few times and always a great experience.

OMG...what a tasty find!! Visited Sierra Street Kitchen & Cocktails on the Sunday evening after Hot August Nights Event wrapped up and were we impressed. The service and food were exceptional. Jessica was behind the bar and greeted us with a warm welcoming smile. She was working as both bartender and server on what was an unusually quiet evening. Her attention to our party was fantastic. My specialty cocktail did not disappoint, well mixed beet martini with perfect flavor. Chef Chris prepared our happy hour tapa(s) order to perfection. All of our small plates were prepared to order and delicious. We were pleasantly surprised when Chris came out of the kitchen to inquire about rather or not we were enjoying our meal. Of course we were ~ food was fresh, spices and seasonings were perfectly mixed and each plate was served at the appropriate temperature. I cannot say enough about this neighborhood restaurant and bar except that our experience and food was so good we came back the next night to enjoy it all again. Thoroughly enjoyed this unique find wish we had a restaurant like this in our hometown!

Super nice and courteous server and chef came to our table to confirm that food was prepared to our satisfaction — food was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Wonderfully fresh, well made, delicious, as well as excellent plating and timing. Not to mention the Michelin level service! I highly recommend this experience. Coming soon to some foodie magazines!

I don’t know if they changed ownership but the food has gone down hill considerably! Cocktails were about the only thing we enjoyed.

Made a reservation for dinner downtown on the fly. We have been here once before and really enjoyed it. We arrived on time and were greeted by our friendly wait staff and we were seated right away. Our server was attentive and outgoing. He was a pleasure to work with. I started with the beet salad And my wife had bacon wrapped dates. These appetizers did not disappoint. Good size portions and extremely delicious. For dinner, I enjoyed the filet mignon with shrimp and my wife had the short ribs. The meat was tender and juicy and of a five-star quality. The wine list was excellent quality and still affordable. They also offered gluten-free options! I highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant/bar when in downtown Reno!
