Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

Shibden Mill was as cosy as always with a perfect atmosphere. We had the set Sunday menu and enjoyed the perfectly cooked roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with splendid vegetables. Followed by a delicious dessert. All to be recommended. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Gorgeous meal. Shared a starter of duck liver pate which was super smooth and delicious. My partner had the roast beef dinner and I had the pork chop with black pudding mash. Both were absolutely beautiful. A fantastic Spanish red that I’d never tried before, which was also fab. Great service as always & beautiful cosy surroundings.

A lovely rural restaurant set in the countryside. The staff were very helpful and informative. The food was excellent.

We have eaten here before and it has been faultless. The french crumpet starter in my opinion just didn’t work - and I was expecting home a made crumpet - not a supermarket one. The sirloin steak was dry and tough not helped by having a blunt steak knife. The accompanying sauce was congealed. My lamb hogget was a tale of two halves - the shredded lamb side dish and pomegranate sauce was amazing - but the rest of the dish was uninspiring with the main lamb meat being quite tough and chewy. £120 for starters mains and a couple of drinks for 2 - it was poor value considering the quality. It was freezing weather outside and the dining area was chilly - bring your coat.
